SFO GS Reception Lobby Opening Wednesday October 15, 2014

Hi everyone,

I wanted to let you all know that tomorrow, we will open our newest Global Services Reception Lobby, at SFO. At approximately 1,100 square feet, the glass-enclosed facility will offer five full-service check-in podiums, a seating area and front-of-line security lane access, featuring TSA PreCheck. The design includes several signature elements, including unique lighting and a panoramic backdrop image of the San Francisco cityscape.

Check out our press release here.

Oh, perhaps that's why I had a very bad check-in experience yesterday at SFO, as they might be temporarily closing some of the check-in counters? The premier check-in area was so crowded yesterday at about 9:30 am.

From the press release, the new premier check-in area will move to boarding area E. Looking forward to it when I visit SFO again in two weeks.

Insider didn't mention a change noted in the press release that affects even more...

Premier check-in is moving to the E side of the terminal at the same time, offering easier access to the new wing and a new Pre-check lane.

Old Premier check-in will be used for Economy class.

Wonder if the TSA pre-check by the current, soon to be former Premier check-in will remain.

to the moving of Premier check-in. The current checkin and security areas were ideal for those coming from BART.

Passing through last weekend, it also appears that the new AMEX Centurion Lounge is about ready to open.

The entrance to the Centurion is air side, by the way.

Agree. I predict a downgrade in the Premier experience (except for GS, of course). Hope I'm proven wrong.

The check in areas are about 750 feet apart, right?

Or am I underestimating the distance?

Confusion will be the biggest pain to begin with - I'll let you know on Monday what my experience is.
