i believe there was another update after the post you quoted. IIRC, the IPTE 772 continues on the route through roughly spring 2017.

airlineroute posted a series of updates about UA's summer 2017 schedule tonight. relevant to this thread, all international service out of LAX will be on the 789 beginning this summer.

(1) so long GF
(2) no polaris out of LAX for the foreseeable future

(1) longterm UA plan. Haven't heard the announcement, but have seen writing on the wall. Not just LAX, but systemwide.
(2) ya, sorry, may have to connect via SFO for that.

773 will fly a lot of 747 routes (can you say SFO), and introduction of Polaris is UA's way of saying good bye GF.

To be honest, one of few solid moves by UA since the merger @:-) ^ IMHO.
