Noted elsewhere, but UA has been mixing it up in terms of upgrade sweeps. The usual for years has been down to sweep to J2 at T-24. Now they're randomly sweeping down to J3 around T-40 instead. This seems designed to enhance sales of buy-ups at check-in and it certainly decreases upgrade odds by basically decreasing the pool by one seat.

4/29 LAS-LAX
4/29 LAX-SAN

At T-96. Long time since I had a CPU at T-96. In fairness it is a Saturday evening leaving Vegas.

LAX-SAN and vice versa are fairly standard for the CPU.

Had the same thing on LAS-ORD, cleared down to J3 somewhere between T-48 and T-24. I'm not too optimistic if there's 10 seats left at T-48 and I'm 8th on the list

Got the elusive 96h upgrade on both domestic flights for this week. LGA-IAD-xxx both right at 96. I wish the IAD-xxx flight was "worth it" (only a 1.5 hour flight, not a transcon unfortunately) but I'll take it!

Sadly (and goodly for those who got them) these 96H CPU clearances are more likely given the softening economic conditions and less flying on UA by its elites. Especially on shorter hops.

Glad to see that some FTers are getting the upgrades when UA said that they'd actually run the relevant jobs instead of holding back.

What is this elusive xxx airport?

I got CPU on the DEN-EWR - wide open 6am flight.

Used 20PP for EWR to DEN, but then I switched to a different flight. Phone agent stuck me in a middle E+. No thanks, switched myself to window E-, which was perfectly fine, especially with an open middle. And I got the burger and the new Chipotle chicken bowl from the bistro menu for free.

Cancun - LAX 5/1, cleared for me and companion at T-36 as a Gold. Everyone on the UG list cleared.

Adding, my LAX - Cancun 4/28 flight went out with 2 empty seats. I believe 2 non-rev passengers cleared at the last minute. There were 4 empty seats in FC and then just 2 right when the door closed, and I noted two seats from the very last row were now empty.

Going through my flight log, I've cleared upgrades on the following as a Gold:

1/28 EWR-SEA (Saturday)
3/3 IAD-EWR (Saturday)
4/29 IAD-SEA (Saturday)

I also cleared SFO-EWR Premium Service redeye using MUA on 4/4 but had to pull it due to misconnect.

So, either 3/10 or 4/10 depending on whether we count the MUA, which I think is pretty good given my low status. I'm usually ending around #1-#3 on the waitlist. Granted, I strategically book Saturday flights to maximize upgrade chances, but still.

A while ago but got a CPU to first from SFO-ORD as a redeye in late March on a Tuesday as a Silver. Was even more surprised that I received the upgrade 12 hours before departure.

Pretty lucky for sure! I haven't cleared that route as a GS/1K with PP's in play in the past.

Just cleared first for MFE-IAH Sunday, however, Being that I am on a mesa CRJ9, I purposely booked myself in the back to see what the deal with these are, has anyone has an experience asking to reverse a CPU?

Upgrade Cleared - Embraer 175

Not complaining. An upgrade is an upgrade. Our upgrade cleared LGA/IAD at 48 hours. I'm Million Miler.

Now if only UA still upgraded on international. Fingers crossed for an OpUp.

They do, but only within North America. They have never offered unsupported upgrades on intercontinental flights.

We also had an E75 upgrade clear last week, and off of standby no less.

If a CPU routine perhaps, but Polaris routes -- you chance of a supported upgrade is far better then the nearly non-existent Op-Ups
each of which have their own threads.
