I was ~65k miles, $9000 at the end of last year, and was debating whether to make a run for Plat.

By the way, is there any method of retrieving one's 2014 year-end stats now that the account home screen has been wiped blank to 2015?

One woud think since we both need the exact same number of EQMs to get to the next level, the cost would be the same.

I guess not
Mke sense to me, Silver is less valuable than Gold. I would have expect a greater difference.

I am just a lowly worthless Silver based on my PQM and PDM this year. If I had not had a cardiac cath in May and not had to cancel my trip to Europe I would have made Gold..so I have an offer for Mr. Jeff and his pals in the Ivory Tower....since I have no plans to fly enough in 2015 to even make Silver for 2016 give me three bags of stale pretzels and I will be happy to start flying with your competitors after June of 2015....when I do get to finally use my cancelled trip to Europe. Oh, no offers yet for any upgrades for 2015 but my mail is slow...

No soft landings with UA.

Two more weeks to enjoy 1K status.

Haha, $1099 for Premier Silver? Not sure what the eggheads are smoking at UA, but I want some! Think I'll stick with AA, thanks, though. Good riddance, UA.

These offers happen every year. The problem I see is that United doesn't have its act together enough to send the offer out to everyone. It is not a good offer. Before I would even consider most of these offers I would have flown to some nice place for an enjoyable lunch or a quick weekend trip. For every hundred to ten thousand offers United makes someone will accept and United will make >90% profit.

If United were to make an offer which was less than the amount spent on flying, could you imagine the uproar from those who scheduled an extra trip on United to make the cut: those who actually flew to make the cut?

Where on earth do they pluck these numbers from for getting this status? Did the programmer get the decimal point in the wrong place? There is no way that 1K is worth anywhere near that. Nor platinum.

As they continue to cut elite benefits.

They really do think we're stupid.

DL was actually much more generous. In December they offered a buy-up promotion, where spend for purchased MQMs counted for MQDs, dollar for dollar.

$599 for Gold, $1299 for Gold & 5,000 PQM toward 2016 (so they can screw us on the PQD again....)
The price offer here is about half of the PQD shortfall even though wife's PQM aren't much above the required level. This looks like a relatively good offer compared to others that are closer to 1-1 on the missing PQDs.
