The Fleet Status site is:
https://sites.google.com/site/unitedfleetsite/
At the site, you can find information about the interior features, livery, etc., for every plane in United's fleet.
To determine which plane your flight will be on go to mobile.united.com and then click on flight status. Put in the flight number for your flight and just have it use today's date (occasionally it'll say flight not operated on this date in which case just choose one of the other 3 dates it lists). In the address bar you'll see something like this:
mobile.united.com/FlightStatus/FlightDetails?carrierCode=UA&flightNumber=1647&fli ghtDate=11%2F30%2F2015&origin=EWR&destination=SFO
https://mobile.united.com/FlightStat...estination=SFO
Just change the flight date to match the day of your scheduled flight and then change the origin / destination as necessary. Once you do that look in the details tab under aircraft # and if they have assigned a plane it'll say something like #3506 and the type of plane. Once you know that go to the United Fleet website listed above and cross-reference the four digit number against the "aircraft" column under the appropriate aircraft type.
Keep in mind that things change as they get closer and sometimes either they won't have assigned an aircraft yet or it'll be assigned #0 if it's a few days away and they are anticipating aircraft movement.
You may also check the specific fleet variant of each flight at the United Cargo site under "Schedules & tracking". This data tends to be reliable starting 7 days in advance, but is always subject to change.

I flew one LHR to ORD last month. Outbound was no WiFi, while inbound had it.

Correct, currently four 3 class 763s with WiFi. 2 more in MIA for mod right now and expect another one in mod soon.
Entire mainline fleet to get WiFi - only exception is the non ps sUA 752s , which are being pulled by early 2016. Looks like only 15 752s in service now.
Looks like all subfleets to get WiFi by August except 73Gs (November 15) and sCO 752/753, by Sept 15).
Currently 403 of 497 domestic aircraft and 120 of 205 Intl aircraft with WiFi
738:
N24212 sked to enter INT 2170/30Mar for WiFi
N12238 sked to exit INT 2185/30Mar with WiFi
739:
N69847 exited SEA Induction, ferry to INT 2179/30Mar for WiFi
752:
N18119 sked to exit MIA 2124/30Mar with Intl WiFi
N34137 entered MIA 2123/30Mar for WiFi
764:
N67052 sked to exit LCQ 2131/31Mar with Intl WiFi
N59053 sked to enter CWF 2121/30Mar for WiFi
N77066 sked to enter LCQ 2130/31Mar for WiFi

Are they changing the layout on all of the 3 class 763s to become 2 class?

Sorry if I'm a little slow. Just wanted to see what the timeline is for this. I'm scheduled to fly UA TATL on a 763 - 3 class but would prefer a 2 class. Actually I'd prefer the 788 (which was originally scheduled on the route, but that's a different story).

Not anytime soon I believe it doesn't actually start mods until late this year.

Are there any updates as to when the non-DirectTV 739s will receive streaming entertainment? Over 50% of the 739 fleet has absolutely no IFE (other than wifi).
On a personal note, I think it's an absolute joke that UA continues to operate these planes on long routes.

AA and DL are both in the process of taking deliveries of new 738s and 739s respectively. Every one of their new planes is equipped with wifi and seat-back TVs prior to them entering revenue service. I have no issues with UA not having TV's in their new planes, but they should at least install streaming entertainment.
