11.10a departure became 13.00, now 14.30.

My folks are on the flight. They're going to miss the connection to BKK so I got on the phone and got them re-booked on the 18.10 flight to HND, connecting to BKK.

Good luck to anyone else affected by this.

I'm kicking myself for not originally booking them on the ANA flight leaving at the same time as UA837.

[EDIT] UA837 is now scheduled for a 1730 departure. Lovely.

[EDIT] Their rebooked flight (UA875) is now delayed 50 minutes. Can UA not get to Tokyo on time today?

[EDIT] UA875 is now suffering rolling delays. 1h 25m delay so far. Probably going to blow another BKK connection.
Looks like UA837 finally left at 1830. UA875 did leave 1hr25min late. Hopefully your folks made the BKK connection.

I transited SFO today and my domestic flight to SEA was delayed due to late inbound from PHX. No idea what happened there as the plane got to PHX on time.

Agent mis-informed me

Hi,

I was booked on flight 30 GRU-EWR on FEB 22nd, which said it was cancelled due to weather issues, on the website and I called in and confirmed with an agent which said I'm not eligible to a hotel.

Today I get an appreciation email from United saying it was due to mechanical and crew issues.

I was booked in IN class.

email offered 350 UA certificate or 17.5K miles.

Why I was misinformed? I had to pay an extra day of accommodation etc.

Is it worth it to call CC and asked for anything?
I just can't believe I was lied where I specifically asked for that reason because I knew my rights.

To go a little off topic.... Two things I like about UA. Channel 9 and the details they provide regarding flight status. Though I suspect that flight status metrics are collected to satisfy the DoT.

I'm trying to figure out if my folks made their connection to BKK. Their GSM phones don't work in Japan. So, no idea if they made the connection or if there's sitting around waiting to get rebooked. United.com still shows their original itinerary (no modifications). ANA website shows that their flight left "on time" at 0025 even though FlightAware shows it took off at 0043 (but that includes taxi times).

I guess I need to sit and wait. Or perhaps I can call ANA to see if they made it on the plane or not...

UA837 is the only flight in the next few weeks that I actually care about and have sort of been watching. I'm surprising my Mom taking her to Tokyo & London (she thinks we are going to London/Paris), if it were just me traveling it is something I can deal with but I hope the Travel Spaghetti Monster favors our Y-J GPU'd confirmed flight.

8 hours delay I wonder what the downline delays are turning out to be?

If your CC has travel delay/interruption insurance, you can claim accommodation expenses. If you do have it, call them, and they will tell you what you need to file a claim. This is what travel insurance is for.

Never accept a No from someone not authorized to say Yes in the first place. Res agents cannot authorize or issue hotel vouchers over the phone -- that's an airport function.

2/26 UA 803 IAD-NRT (N226UA) delayed 3 hours 29 minutes due to maintenance.
2/27 UA 803 NRT-SIN delayed due to late inbound aircraft
2/27 UA 838 NRT-SFO cancelled due to curfew. (late arrival from 2/26 UA 837 SFO-NRT (N107UA/N197UA))
2/27 UA 836 PVG-ORD (N128UA) cancelled due to aircraft maintenance.

Looks like there will be a couple ferry flights on 2/28.

UA 2066 PVG-ORD (N128UA) departing 1200 and arriving into ORD at 1058
UA 2056 NRT-SFO (N197UA) departing 1600 and arriving into SFO at 0753

I have to call the Credit Card for my travel insurance, what about United Customer Care, they are the one that cancelled my flight not due to weather.
I was under the impression they should supply accommodation for equipment/crew issues.

Thanks for your answer.

UA/16 EWR-LHR just diverted to JFK. I wonder if they'll clear customs at JFK or if pax will be held on board to be ferried to EWR.

Oh, yes, sorry... of course.

And, now showing expected wheels up at JFK at 7:01pm (it landed 4:46pm and appears to have reached a gate at 5:08pm, then pushed back 6:27pm). I hope they let no-bags folks off and into Customs if they wanted to go... the UA terminal has the BA facilities there, so would have been easy enough.

From the FAA website regarding EWR

Due to WEATHER / SNOW-ICE and UAL AIRLINES REQUEST, there is a Traffic Management Program in effect for traffic arriving Newark International Airport, Newark, NJ (EWR). This is causing some arriving flights to be delayed an average of 3 hours and 4 minutes.

UA 198 on March 1st

UA 198 (LAX to PVG) delayed over 5 hours. Interesting to trace the aircraft - root cause is a equipment swap on Friday from NRT to DEN. Extrapolates out to a 5+ hour delay for flights 2 days later.
