I feel the same way. UA's cuts and devaluations since the merger was completed never seem to end, while frequent flyer-friendly improvements seem to be few and far between. A shame, because I was very fond of both pre-merger MileagePlus and OnePass. As a 1K, I will say that I have generally been treated very well by virtually all of the UA employees with whom I interact, yet all that goodwill has been squandered by cut after cut and devaluation after devaluation to the MileagePlus program.

a non scientific survey of this thread indicates that:
very very few people are actually leaving UA because of this or other changes
many many people complain about how awful UA is but continue to fly them
looks to me like SMIJ made a smart call (again)

After the 3.3.12 bloodbath and aftermath, AA benefitted greatly the next couple years. Maybe this will continue to spur them along and acquire new customers.

I've already made the decision to check out. This latest announcement just validates my decision to leave. ^

I think we should create a forum called "Good News from UA insider", and see if any thread other than crickets chirping, ever get filed in there.

To be fair, they'll come for PP/1K next year.

Tell it like it is.
From bad to worse.
Mileage Plus
1. First of all, this needs to be called "Points Plus", since nothing is based on mileage anymore
2. "Plus" implies that there is some benefit .
The new name of the ahem, cough, wheeze "loyalty" puke program should be
"Points Negative"

Can you tell me where UA says that? Can they really do that? Does this mean that I would have to go pick up luggage at the connection point and re-check in again? Guess UA doesn't care about having common courtesy for travelers.

Perhaps "Dollars Plus" (or "Dollars Down") would be closer to the mark.

I guess I'm in the minority, but as soon-to-be Golds, I see one positive (two if you include the outflux of dissatisfied elites), and nothing else that will have any effect on us whatsoever.

MP is going down just like my number of UA flights this year. Soon it'll be zero.
