So my award flight got downgraded from O to I

BKK - NRT from O to I Due to equipment change. TG switches to dreamliner so no first class.
NRT - ORD Still O with ANA

If later TG changes their equipment again and have 3 classes of service. I think I should be able to call in switch it back to O without a change fee.

But what if I choose to do something like

BKK - FRA O class
FRA - ORD O class

Will I have to pay change fee in this case?

Thanks

No because it's still the same origin and destination. As long as you keep the date the same and you mention why you wanted to change, there should be no fee.

No extra fee just addition/ subtraction of airport taxes and fees - won't be to much. Also if you can find BKK-FRA/MUC-ORD I encourage you to do it ^

Heck I would even consider BKK-LHR/CDG-ORD connecting TG to UA on O a good get, and don't forget BKK-ICN-ORD on TG & OZ!

So you think UA first class is worth it? I was kind of thinking to wait for T14 until LF first shows up.

Definitely avoid UA First, it's a much lesser product. UA even admits as such -- it's a cheaper award on their award chart.

NH F is excellent. Either stick with what you got, or go via Europe as suggested.

I love NH first! I flew with them last year and their food and services were out of this world. I think I will stick with what I have unless I could get LF first.

As of right now, no. Due to availability.

The UA hard product in F is great - but we already have a thread on that.

I think if you connected in LHR the longer segment would be on TG and that would be worth connecting to UA for IF no LH or OZ space was available.

What I am saying is keep your options open - a little creativity will go a long way here.

It's fine but not great.

Compared to other F hard products (LH, LX, NH), it's under par.

I got a similar situation but it's UA metal.

BOS-ORD ERJ170 F
ORD-FRA UA 744 F
FRA-BKK TG F

For no reason other than a schedule change on BOS-ORD, UA switched me to

BOS-EWR 737 F
EWR-FRA UA 767 I
FRA-BKK TG F

Now ORD-FRA is showing O0 ON3 so there is no saver F.

It's like UA just downgraded me from GF to BF.

But yours is UA metal, you can call UA and have them force you back on the flight that's O0, ON3.

Yes. When it's UA schedule change and they unilaterally changed your itinerary, they can make things happen, even if no award inventory showing online.

Our BKK-PEK in O on a B747 just became I on a B777 (all 2-class aircraft)
Still in O for the long-haul from PEK-IAD.

Not terribly bummed about the lesser flight service from BKK-PEK since it is less than 5 hours on a daytime flight. Very bummed about losing the much vaunted F ground service and lounge at BKK on departure.
