Whats the worst On-Time Performance on ual.com?

Hi,

I was booking a flight from IAD to IAH for later September and checked "See On-Time Performance" for a flight. Flight is UA249

On time 45%
Late 38%
Canceled 0%

so just a question, which route is the worst in on-time performance for domestic ual?

Thanks

expertflyer.com has UA 4516 (DFW-IAH) at 25% with an average delay of 71 minutes.

Out of curiosity, what happens to that flight the other 17% of the time?

PHL-IAD UA3335 Departs 7:45pm
On-time: 32%, Late: 45%, Cancelled: 22%

**Yet looking at this flight for next Thursday 9/4 there are only 4 seats left. Kind of an odd time since I doubt it connects to that much in IAD when it lands at 8:45pm.

I did a search ORD-LAN for Sept 1.

I see the same problem with UA5896 (July - 56/26/0) and 4241 (July - 69/15/0). Oddly UA 5862 on the same route is more accurate (55/24/17) but still missing 4%.

Even more strangely - UA4241 during July (the reporting period) served EWR-DCA-EWR. So the question remains - is UA.com giving us the ontime performance in July for EWR-DCA or ORD-LAN. That is, is the ontime performance linked to the flight number or route?

The 5am SMF to SFO has had an abysmal completion rate this summer. Not sure of the exact data but it's bad.

Have no idea, but if I'm looking for that info, I try to use flightstats, which allows you to select the specific flight number and then specific route for an accurate breakdown.

That is more tricky for some flights where the numbers are changed often. Again using ORD-LAN, do a search on flightstats for Aug 26. The only flights with an on-time rating are the Copa codeshares for the flight not the EV or UA flight numbers.

The DOT has plenty of data and names and shames by flight number in the monthly Air Travel Consumer Report.

http://www.dot.gov/airconsumer/air-t...nsumer-reports

Table 6
Number and Percentage of Regularly
Scheduled Flights Arriving Late 70% of the
Time or More

August 2014 report for June 2014 data gives pages of ExpressJet and SkyWest flights (although not all are UA-marketed), plus a few UA mainline.

Here's the June '14 summary by carrier. Southwest is the big loser.

Keep in mind that now that United lists virtually EVERY delay as "weather in our system", it is not likely any of these stats are accurate enough to use effectively.

Does that data include UX operations?

As noted in the OP, no. Note that ExpressJet and SkyWest are tabulated separately - so one is only excluding the other regional carriers.

First of all, not true. Second of all, even if it was, unless I'm missing something, that would have no relevance to the table above, as it only lists delays, and doesn't break down by reason. Further, I think the majority of the general population (I'm not talking about most of the FT-types here), it doesn't matter whether it was a hurricane or a plane unfit to fly that delays their flight, they want to get to their destination on-time, and the reason isn't going to change whether they do or not.

There are 4 buckets. United.com shows 3 of them:

(1) On-time: arrives no more than 15 minutes late
(2) Not shown on united.com: arrives 15-30 minutes late
(3) Late: arrives > 30 minutes late
(4) Canceled: flight does not complete

So would a flight that arrives exactly 15 minutes late count towards BOTH buckets 1 and 2?
