Now this is what I call "Flyer Friendly". Presumably when you go through a call center you get hit with the phone booking fee (unless elite of course).

An interesting note is that many of the UA/*A MR deals in the past few months have been via NRT. For example X-NRT-CGK and X-NRT-SIN. It might be nothing, just mentioning it.

Agreed at least for the 747. The 747 seems to be pitched up 3 or 4 degrees even in level flight, which makes a fully flat front-facing seat incredibly uncomfortable for me, since my head is lower than my feet. Flying backwards solves this issue.

The IAH-NRT route makes great sense for latin america connections. It also takes the pressure off the IAH-SFO feeders, which often fill early, and I suspect this costs UA some revenue.
That said, UA is clearly having some trouble filling its NRT flights. SFO-NRT is also an upgrade bonanza. Today's UA852 is booked only 29/52 in J and that's a pretty normal state of affairs right now. We'll see what happens when they move one of the two dailies to HND.

I know I ran DEN-IAH-NRT a few times before DEN-NRT came online.

And for me, the best pricing has always been to book via IAH. My ORD-IAH-NRT-CGK was much less expensive than ORD-NRT-CGK or ORD-SFO-NRT-CGK.

Was looking for award travel from NRT to EZE and UA 2 NRT-IAH now shows as a 787 ( at least on Feb 3 ) instead of a triple 7. Not sure if that is the added "2nd" flight but in any case would mean a reduction in seats, no?

IIRC, it was downgraded seasonally to 787 plus not 7 days a week.
Supposedly will return to 7 days a week and 777 in spring.
