Flying UA for the first time: what to expect?
Hi!
I will be flying CDG-ORD-HNL, SFO-CDG on UA, and I was wondering what to expect.
I have flown DL and AA domestically. I found DL better than AA. How does UA compare to these airlines?
I will be flying in Y.
Thanks

CDG - ORD not sure of the aircraft but if it's a 3-cabin 763 entertainment options are limited, seat is okay. ORD - HNL be prepared you can either get one of the remaining 2-cabin 777s with overhead IFE, or you will get one of the new fangled ones with streaming IFE which may or may not work. SFO - CDG will be a 2-cabin 763 which has AVOD, power etc. The best flight most likely would be the SFO - CDG one. Food service will be the same basically a few beverage runs a few water runs and a couple of meals. SFO - CDG should get a Lunch/Mid-Flight Refreshment/Pre-Arrival snack service. Haven't flown DL or AA in quite sometime so can't really compare the 3.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 4.1.2; en-us; LG-P659 Build/JZO54K) AppleWebKit/534.30 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/534.30)
UA is marginally worse than AA and a lot worse than DL.
There is no complimentary alcohol on the TATL flights on UA, and the long ORD-HNL flight will have no complimentary food, so pick up ssomething in Chicago.

First, unwind to a hot stone massage as you begin to wing your way across the Atlantic. Then slip into your Jacuzzi filled with Perrier water and sip Dom Pérignon (1959). After your handmaiden drys you off with cashmere gloves, your butler will dress you in the height of 16th Century French finery. He will then escort you to your mahogany dining table where he will light the candles on your solid-gold candelabra. There, your appetite will be satiated by quiche lorraine, beef bourguignon, coq au vin, ratatouille niçoise, crème brûlée or whatever culinary creations you request of your personal chef.
In your lounge, your opulent journey will feature plush seating in resplendent surroundings. Bask in that glorious pleasure and enjoy private shows performed by Blue Man Group, Coldplay and Cher (it was going to be Gwyneth Paltrow, but you know).
United Airlines does more than merely look after your creature comforts and delight your senses. It will expand your mind with a world-renowned guest lecturer. This month, United provides its Deck 3ers with a fascinating history of cinematic animation given by none other than the unfrozen Walt Disney!
After you land, please let us know how you enjoyed your transatlantic journey a la United Airlines—which the French have nicknamed: L'Enfant Terrible.

I don't find UA to be worse than others as long as you pack some extras with you: some fresh bread to accompany your meal (get it at "Paul" at the TGV station if you join CDG by train), peanuts and some biscuits. You can find all you need at the "casino" at the lower level of Terminal 1. If you like tea, bring your own. The only downside is that they charge for alcoholic beverages but like most US carriers.
Check in staff at CDG can be awsome or just basic as can be FAs. Some are real dragons, others may be extremly nice. Be prepared to fight for overhead bin space if you board among the last in a fully booked aircraft, particularly on ORD-HNL.
Seating in coach is not that bad if you are in EcoPlus, which seems to be a good value for TATL flights.
