So why did my Dreamliner fly SKF (Lackland AFB)-DEN yesterday?

Taking the 788 DEN-IAH today. Checking on the inbound and I see that it arrived yesterday afternoon from SKF...

SKF=Lackland AFB in San Antonio.

Here's Flightaware's track

UA 6865 has an interesting history of circle flights. Post-maintenance air checks?

The USAF has their own planes, or so I'm told Besides, COS is closer to the Academy.

Can't tell if you're joking or not but new AF enlistees (those not enrolled at the Academy) go thru basic training in San Antonio - and they fly commercial.

That was my point. USAF definitely uses commercial and enlisted basic training occurs at Lackland.

Maybe the pilot wanted to one-up the WN pilot who landed at the wrong airport by saying "I did it with a bigger plane"?

There is a civilian side of SKF known as Port San Antonio that annually produces about $1.5B in economic activity.

Wikipedia lists the following aerospace companies operating there:

"Aerospace Products SE, Inc; Atlantic Aviation; AVCHEM, Inc; The Boeing Company; Boeing Services Company; Chromalloy; EG&G KDC; GexPro; Gore Design Completions; Lockheed Martin; New Breed Logistics; Pratt & Whitney; and Standard Aero."
