A note about getting your hopes up: 2013 status is valid through the end of January. The iPhone app is apparently showing people's current status as valid through 2015, which is a possible glitch. Unless you've gotten a clear notice from UA, or seen an affirmative increase in status beyond what you're entitled to, don't assume UA is doing you any special favors.

I just got bumped to 1K this morning. Woohoo ^^
Yesterday I checked the app and it showed me as platinum with a valid through 1/2015 on the MP card so I assumed I wasn't going to get bumped, but this morning it shows my status as 1K. The GPUs haven't shown up yet.
Last year I got bumped from gold to plat and it took at least a couple of weeks for my RPUs to show up.
My PQD last year was probably around $25k.

Same here. The Ipad app says "Valid thru 01/2015" however when you click on "Print Duplicate MileagePlus Card" on UA.com is says "Valid thru 01/2014".

I think the app has an issues in displaying next year's status. I have a feeling that the app just bumps up to next year's expiration date based on the current status. So even if you are due to drop in status Feb 2014, it will still show Valid thru 01/2015 but just bump the status down on 02/01.
I think the only way to be sure is to call/ask MP if you were bumped ... or wait until 2/1.

Definitely wouldn't count on either of these meaning anything. I have app screenshots and printed MileagePlus cards of me with 1K status (which I have never had) from a glitch exactly this time last year. Thought about using it for a status match but never got around to it.

I suspect that mine is related to my company's contract with UA and/or my relatively high PQD spend last year and I'm pretty certain it is real and not a glitch status change. There is an issue where the app is showing 1/2015 and the website shows 1/2014 though.

I called United and let them know how much I enjoy flying their airline. And how I regretted flying other airilnes this year.
I asked them if they would consider extending my 1K status another year, even though I had not flown at all in 2013. They said they would review my case and get back to me--and in the interim would give me a bunch of upgrades to tide me over.
The upgrades appeared within 2 minutes, they don't expire until Jan 2015. A week later a United rep called and said they had decided to extend my 1K status 1 year.
