Are you sure you are flying a E175?

There are no E175s flying between EWR and CLT this week. Only E145s and E170s. E170 and 175 are pretty similar and almost on par with mainline in my eyes. The E145 on the other hand isn't even close so I imagine you are flying on an E145??

I figured what the OP meant was that he was stuck flying ER4s and wanted E75s on EWR-CLT.

That's what I did last year on my two CLT trips...better A/C & reliability at 1/4 the price. Amazing.

I can see that too. Wasn't sure though so figured I'd ask.

It it was me on that route, and I wanted to stay on UA, then I'd pick the E170 flights and avoid the E145s at all cost. That's pretty much what I've been doing on any route for a few of years.

Seriously? Wow.

Or perhaps is just demonstrates how low mainline domestic flying has fallen.

Not on United, but on Delta or even US Airways I agree. With those airlines you've got Wifi, Delta serves meals in F, you're guaranteed an aisle or a window and speaking of windows, they're nice and large. Plus, the bins can fit most bags and with IFE on the way out on many planes, it's not like I'm missing much in that department.

Oh and compared to a United A-320 or CR7, no slimline seats to worry about.

The crate to which I was consigned was an E145. On board at 10:15 but did not take off until noon because they could not locate an FO in EWR. Arrived CLT 1:30 but jetway was inoperable so did not disembark until 2:00

On the new UA E175s, UA is putting in those awful slimlines and they are not putting in headrests in the Y seats

Here is a picture of the Y cabin:

Bad news then...think they're the same as the wooden planks on the newer CR7s. They are truly awful.

Meanwhile - AA decides to outfit theirs with an actual seat! With contours! And a headrest!

I just flew YYC to ORD (ua6428) with the new slim line seats and both my wife and I agree that if the flight is more than 2 hours we will pay more for another airline than sit in those seats. I saw the business class seats and there is no way I would have paid the extra for them.
I guess this is part of the designed misery the airlines are using to get people to pay to get out of misery.

United should also get some E-190's or CS100's to replace most of the 300+ RJ's seating 50. However I could bet if Boeing still made the 717 today, they'd do pretty well with United. Delta is already doing well with the former AirTran 717's on replacing their smaller RJ's.

I don't see the "regular" coach seats pictured.
