Just set up repeater bridge mode with your regular router would do the job

Great News!

^
Really looking forward to this especially on trans Atlantic long haul. I often have to do those flights during work hours and it's so important to have connectivity. (Any chance you can get it rolled out by next Tuesday on 777's ).

Monthly subscription would be very valuable!

Call me selfish, but I wouldn't share my bandwidth with any one else!

Second that vote. Not far behind will finally be the phones and the nightmare of being buckled in next to someone yapping for hours. I personally am in the minority and not thrilled that the last oasis from constant accessibility / contact is being eroded away.

You have any recommendations to decrease the distance between the satellite in near Earth orbit and the ground stations? Simple physics. I look at it as something is better than nothing.

Thumbs up Sharing bandwidth not wise

Smart move. If they do it right, they will load balance by subscriber. So if you share bandwidth with three others, you are getting 1/4 the bandwidth that someone not sharing bandwidth gets.

Someone should post the T&Cs. I'd expect that VoIP is against policy, if they follow most other airlines.

Whether or not there are technical restrictions against it, someone should test.

Free wifi on Turkish won't last. It will change soon.

VOIP is against T&Cs actually FAA T&Cs.

And they are pretty hot on it...

This is exciting news. It may not be ideal (certainly not SQ), but considering the US aviation industry and market, it is a suitable option.

So it DOES seem from what I read that there will be complimentary access through wifi to an on-board server of entertainment? The only charge will be for wifi access to the satellite-based internet service?

I wonder if there will be 1outlet-1seat or if it will be 1outlet per 2 seats..

Final question: I know that UA has streamlined it's alcoholic beverage policy and includes complimentary wine and beer on transpac flights and sake on Japan flights. I'm assuming this doesn't apply only to Asia but includes SYD/MEL?

Inflight Entertainment:
Wi-Fi access is available for purchase on this flight. Overhead video and audio programming are available. Or listen to live cockpit communications with air traffic control on Channel 9, a feature that's unique to United
Thanks Muchly!

Which route(s) has this aircraft been used on thus far?

UPDATE: Never mind. I found the flight history on Flight Aware. Seems the aircraft has been used on many routes, both trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific.
