Ex-USA to Zurich

I will be booking a ticket soon from USA-ZRH on UA. Is there any particular reason to route through EWR over IAD or vice-versa?

Facilities in EWR are nicer, IMO, but it's EWR, where delays are more likely there than IAD.

For a connection time in December (DEN-EWR-ZRH), would 2 hour layover be sufficient or would it be safer to go with a 4 hour do you think?

I definitely wouldn't do two, any delays or terminal changes and you'll miss your flight.

I would be ok with a 2 hour layover, but 4 would be safer for that time of year.

I would perfer 2 hours over 4 layover period. I mean, who wants to hang out at IAD or EWR for 4 hours?

Having done more flights then I can count out of both IAD and EWR to ZRH, I really haven't seen much difference in delays, irrops, mx, etc. I maybe give IAD a little advantage as if there are issues I seem to find more *A flights over the atlantic from there (if I have to change).

Middle of the winter xDEN, I would definitely do the 4-hour.

If flying F, no Int'l F lounge at EWR gives an advantage to IAD. But to me, I would rather have a shorter layover.
