Rate desk playing games with fares?
So, I had an itinerary I wanted to change. The new itinerary was on K fare, and the fare difference was below $10. I call reservations and ask them to change my reservation to an itin I see on the website. UA CSR says he sees the fare on the suggested itin, but cannot changed to it because he has to consult the rate desk. I say ok.
After a while he comes back and says that the rate desk said the difference was $400+ and would I like to book it. I check on the .bomb and, sure thing, the K fare is gone, and T fare is now available. CSR keeps telling me that the fare is $1300+ in the T class even though it's $1100 on .bomb. I said forget it and decided to fly on the original itinerary.
My goodness, I don't envy UA elites. Post 3/3 mess must be infuriating.
UPDATE: Hilarious. I call back and speak with another agent. He says sees the K class availability and the correct fare I see on .bomb. Says he needs 24 hours to confirm availability, makes some notes and asks me to call back tomorrow. So, I guess it's not games, it's just mess.
