checked my email and got this offer:
Upgrade your New York/Newark trip starting from $52 one way
[bob_the_d], upgrade to a premium cabin for your upcoming flight
Starting at $52* one way or use miles*.
Act today to upgrade your upcoming trip to Austin using money or miles. This limited-time offer is available for purchase or by using miles with a MileagePlus® Upgrade Award.
at first i was surprised that my flight would be a 52 dollar upgrade.
...and then read it more carefully and was even more surprised it was for my flight... to austin? funny because i don't have any trips booked to austin. went on to ua.com to do a sanity check ("i feel like i'm taking crazy pills here") and maybe i had booked some wild routing that connected through AUS but nope... nothing through AUS. clicked on the upgrade link and it took me to a $171 upgrade for my flight to BOS (which is a real itinerary of mine).
go figure.

Too funny. This made me remember the movie Road Trip from back in 2000 or so. Tom Green's character mistook the main character's trip to Austin as one to Boston and hilarity ensued. I may have to watch that movie tonight!
