I flew a United Express Q200 yesterday operated by Commutair.

As I was walking into the plane, I noticed the control the the NVS system by the door, with a big sticker over the buttons reading: "INOPERABLE"!

I wonder how common it is to have aircraft with the Noise and Vibration Suppression system, that the airlines simply choose not to maintain or have installed?

My mistake.... it's probably been about two years since I was last forced to endure that particular torture on US, so I guess I just mentally blocked out what aircraft it was in particular. I'm sure it wasn't a Dash 8 and if it wasn't an ATR, I guess it was the 340 that left my head throbbing for the rest of the day.

I love how smooth the landing is on a Q400. But the plane is noisy if you are not siting up front. I am flying a Cessna 402 with Cape Air in Oct. That will be fun.

Just the usual trolling from that poster. Agreed on the 757 vs. any of the PMUA a/c if you're in Y. Even in BF it is comparable.

I hope you know that they close and lock the cockpit doors on all U.S. flights and the Q400 has a cockpit door.

Yup I do. Got confused between Q400 and Beech 1900!

You can fly the noisy, sardine-can Q400s all day long between EWR + IAD to PIT. If you love loud, shuddering slave ships with no E+. The Q400 is for you.
