If you can sleep on Y, I don't think you need to upgrade (unless you have instruments to burn that you won't use on another flight). I cannot sleep in Y, even on red-eye flights, so an upgrade was a life saver for me, because it allowed me to drive the 1.5 hours from JFK to work on Monday morning without falling asleep and actually be useful in the office that day.
The snack served, a cold chicken on pasta dish, was decent but took a while to reach me in 11D. If you need every minute of sleep and pass out as soon after takeoff as reclining is permitted, you probably will want to skip the meal and video player.
The FAs in C on my flight were great though.
Good luck and enjoy the flight!
