MCT for EWR (2012)
https://www.newarkairport.com/at-airport/connecting-flights
United Airlines operates an "air side" shuttle bus between Terminals A and C from 4:00AM to 12:00AM (midnight). In addition, United also operates a shuttle bus connecting Terminals A and C to terminal B (pier 3, used by Star Alliance carriers) from 1:00PM to 11:00PM, but not in the opposite direction (shuttle does not board at Terminal B). The shuttle bus is available at gate A28 and C70 as illustrated in the image above. The shuttle drops off passengers at the terminal B through the service entry, that requires walking up 2 flights of stairs - there is no elevator. Only the front bus doors will open for alighting at terminal B.This service is free and you will not have to go through TSA security again. Please note this shuttle is operated at the sole responsibility of United Airlines and is subject to modification at their discretion.

Just came through the A gates security about 7PM. Not much of a line, took about 5 minutes. Only one line open though.
A gates waiting area is a mess. Much construction and much seating area blocked offed. Burned a pass to escape to the United Club.

EWR Airport Info 6 hour Layover at 1am
Looking for some advice of those who have flown through EWR or have had to do the possible flight options United is giving me. My wife is thinking of going to AUA. The problem is the flight from ORD arrives EWR at 1230am and then the flight for AUA leaves at 7am. I do not want to get a hotel for maybe 3-4 hours top. I am thinking by the time we get to the hotel would be about 1am and we would need to be back to EWR at 5am. I know the business class lounge is probably not open at that time. I really dont know what to do, has anyone had a layover as such as they are giving us? And what did you do?
Thanks in advance...

Depends on how well you sleep on chairs or floor. For me, I would follow previous post and work an earlier connection so I could get a hotel. I need 7 hours minimum to be functional. For my family who can sleep through ANYTHING, they would just sleep in the airport...
I agree that a 3-4 hour hotel stay is not worth the cost.

Other info about EWR can be found in http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/new-y...l-airport.html and Sleeping at Airports Newark Airport Guide.
But agree if you want more time for a hotel you will need to arrive earlier -- there are many nearby moderator cost opportunities. The Airport Marriott is the closes but you still need to use a shuttle bus -- walking is not practical.

Quick question. I'll be flying First on UA15. According to United website, I will have access to Premier Access for check-in and security lines. What does that mean? Since I dont have any status with United where I should go when I arrive to the terminal C. My flight would be at 8:30. What time should I be there?
Thanks,
Thanks,

As for when you arrive...is that 8:30 AM or PM? For the evening rush - you will have mostly missed it, so unless you have bags to check, being in the terminal by 7 PM should be fine. I rarely fly in the morning (and when I have it's the really early flights), so can't opine on what security would be like at 7 AM - but I can't imagine it being all that bad and would also think 1.5 hours ahead should be fine.

Hello! I'm popping in from the BA forum to ask a connection question:
Is a 50 minute INT-INT connection possible at EWR on two separate tickets? Facts--
1. Flying in on ZRH-EWR (LX), Y, arrive at 20.10
2. Hand baggage only (not even the roller ones, quite literally a hand bag/backpack)
3. Connecting to EWR-YYZ (UA), departing 20.59
4. Canadian passport, no GE/etc.
Alternatively, are there later flights in the New York Area I can take to get home that evening, or should I just hunker down and take the first flight out in the morning?
Thanks all

The 20:59 flight is actually operated by Air Canada in an E190.
You'll have to clear customs and immigration in terminal B then walk or take the train to terminal A where you'll have to clear security. I think you're inbound flight would have to arrive quite a bit early in order for you to make the flight.

I would say you have virtually no chance of making that flight unless you arrive really early. EWR isn't known for it's speedy immigration process - or for it's on operational efficiency. Unfortunately connecting internationally in the US just isn't anywhere near as efficient as it is outside of the US....

I'm an American returning to the US with my family of four from LHR through EWR to RDU on a Friday in July on a United award booking. We originally had about a two-hour connection. Due to a schedule change since booking our connection is now just under 90 minutes. We will have checked bags. When I first called the rep offered to move the whole itinerary. I talked it over with wife and called back, and now the new rep now said to wait until I get closer to our departure date to see if the schedule changes again before trying to change (she was concerned the alternative flights are more costly awards, although that didn't seem to matter to the first rep).
My question: Is 86 minutes enough time for us to stick with what we have or should we push to have the whole itinerary moved a few hours like the first rep originally offered? If I miss this one we will be stuck at EWR for four more hours. FWIW, it looks like United is still selling this itinerary with the 86 minute connection.
Also, when exiting customs after handing our bags back to United, will we have to go through the security line in C?
