Gold Track access with Premium Plus?
This past weekend I flew LHR-EWR and paid to upgrade to PP. When checking the terminal guide in the united app, it recommended I go through the gold track lane for security. I'm only UA Silver so was confused.
When I scanned my BP it said talk to agent, agent scanned it and let me go.
Did I actually have access or did the agent take pity on me/app confusion?

Yup, it's a benefit not everyone knows about. Per the Star Alliance website:
PP is technically not business class, but maybe it is for the purposes of Gold Track.
All Star Alliance Gold Customers (including those travelling in Economy Class) and customers in First or Business Class on a flight operated by a Star Alliance member airline are eligible for Star Alliance Gold Track access.

you get premier access as UA silver anyways
Who gets Premier AccessMileagePlus Premier® membersTravelers in United Polaris business class, United First®, United Business® and United Premium Plus℠
Footnote
What does "exclusive security lanes (if available)" mean?Priority security lines are only available at the following airports: Albuquerque (ABQ)
....
It doesn't list all outpost airports. MEL, SIN is therefore whatever reason but not lhr, NRT etc

Premier Access is not Gold Track which is a Star Alliance branded service available at some international airports. PP should not be permitted through GT without being a *G so the entry was an error.

I always thought Gold Track was the Star Alliance branded-version of Premier Access, at least in the US. Internationally, Premier Silvers wouldn’t have access, but theoretically others who would should also have access to Gold Track. Am I missing something?

Not really - better said that Premier Access is United's implementation of the Star Alliance Gold Track. United permits its own Premier Silver members Premier Access, but this does not translate to similar benefits on other airlines. There was an incorrect assertion upthread that being Premier Silver entitled one to the *A Gold Track benefit (at LHR) by virtue of giving you Premier Access.
