United Saver Award/Upgrade Inventory (& partners) - when is it released? [Archive]

UA used to release XY inventory for literally every flight when schedule opens up. I notice lately in my frequent market (US to Canada) that XY inventory is zeroed out. For example, XY is only available on very few days next April, May, and June.

Did inventory management change their algorithm in releasing XY seats? Does anyone else notice this change in other markets?

I've seen several discussions on the boards that reward inventory is not being released at 330 days out anymore and UA hasn't for awhile. I'm sure they do it on some routes, but if there is any chance of them selling seats then it won't pop up.

CO. 'nuff said.

CO had NonePass. United will now have MileageMINUS.

as channa said,

welcome to MileageMINUS, courtesy of the cheap$kate in chief at CO.

NF/NC/XF/XC/XY/NY inventory are the sort of things that they'll now only "give" away if they're 99.5% certain they won't sell the seat. AFter all, loyalty is a two way street, as long as you keep paying, you can fly.

I noticed the same thing.

330 days out, on most flights, XY=0.

Even 1K inventory NY=0. :td::td::td:

This is pretty widespread, and dramatic.

Never seen this before on UA.

Could this be a computer glitch?

Or MP becomes NonePass. :(:(

Good XY award availability is one of the three reasons I remain so loyal to UA. Very sad to see it gone.

The other two reasons: reliable/on time and good handling during irregular ops.

Dramatically Reduced US Award Availabilty next Summer

I haven't really been accumulating much in the way of UA miles until the last year or two, but always had enough to book an occasional domestic US RT to a low competition city - and always had no problem booking a low mileage period during peak travel periods if I planned ahead. So today I go to look at next summer trips for the first time and found virtually nothing (maybe at best 1 out of 100 date combinations available) at low mileage in either coach or First. I'm surprised I haven't seen anything posted about this because this is the first time in many years I experienced such difficulty booking US trips with UA miles. Are others having the same problems I am having?

Examples: Looked from WAS to FCA, GEG, IDA, JAC, BZN, etc.

This is interesting because I was looking at IAD<->LAS for next summer and couldn't find Saver availability to save my life. Thought maybe it was something specific to this route.

Just another step in the formerly great Mileage Plus turning into something even less than NonePass...

kb1992 Aug 20, 2011 8:30 am

I have noticed this.

In many routes, UA has no saver awards even in economy in 2012 summer.

That is XY=0 in 2012. Even NY=0.

For legacy UA flyers, they have never seen this before.

Another nasty change from SMI/J. :td::td:

What can you say? Ever heard name of Continental Airlines NonePass?

I am looking for July 2012 and I find US Air EVERY day of the week but no useful UA/CO avail.

bdraco Aug 20, 2011 9:14 am

I'm seeing lots of spoke availability, however hub to hub has lots of 0s. CO's award space has historically been much worse then UA. I've been booking a lot of US for the hub-hub segment then then wait listing for the UACO non-stop.

UA vs NW Aug 20, 2011 9:38 am

This is not a good thing! I always UA and AA have the best domestic award seats availability when book in advance. As I just booked a ticket on AA for travel in July 2012. No problem at all.

Now UA/CO appears to work toward a Skymiles model......

same experience

I have been trying to get a flight from Narita to SFO late June or early July and have found nothing. Checking every day. Nothing loaded yet. Normally at least a few seats are loaded around the 330 day mark. If you can't play the game and have at least a fighting chance of getting some saver space then why play at all?

Can someone clarify if this is a .bomb bug, or the real thing?

This looks even worse than CO NonePass!:mad::mad:

So much for "changes" we like. Now we can't even book a saver economy seat!
