New Years Day 2018

Hi. I know there are usually no trains operating 25/26 December in the UK, but can anyone tell me if trains are likely to be running on New Years Day (01 Jan). I can't remember whether there have been trains or not in previous years. Hope someone has a better knowledge than me. Thanks.

This is a summary of what ran last year: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/servic...ns/108547.aspx

You will need to wait a few weeks before this year's plans are published. Keep an eye here: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/servic...AndFuture.aspx

Thank you very much Ldnn1 for your quick response. Let's hope it's going to be do-able or I might have to take the National Express (which I don't want to do!).

Normally Scotrail doesn't run trains on Jan 1st - the only trains running in Scotland are the cross border services into England.

Other services will probably run with a restricted service and may be replaced by the 3 scariest words in the English language "rail replacement bus".

National Express are running coach services that day and you can get from Leeds to the airport for £16
