Engineering works London Bridge Train Station from 20th Dec
As part of the Thameslink Programme there are major engineering works taking place from 20th December 2014 to 4th January 2015
There will be NO Southern trains at all (these serve south west London including Gatwick)
There will be NO Thameslink trains stopping at London Bridge - this is mainly the Bedford to Gatwick/Brighton routing - but these are being diverted from Blackfriars via Elephant and Castle
Southeastern (to south east London (e.g. Greenwich) and Kent trains will run but with some changes in the morning peak from Mon 22nd to Wed 24th December.
The closure this time will be to finish most of the works to the terminating platforms part of the station (Southern services) and facilitate the changes from mid-January to the 'through' platforms (to Charing Cross and Cannon Street) where from 12th January services to Charing Cross will not stop at London Bridge until August 2016

The engineering works run until 2018, and there will be multiple changes to service patterns throughout the station rebuilding works. The moral being don't rely on any advice in an old thread for London Bridge, as it may well be wrong now.
Through Thameslink trains don't reappear until 2018.

At the risk of restating the above, the key takeaway for anyone visiting London in the next month is that there will be no National Rail trains between London Bridge and Gatwick Airport at all from 20 December to 4 January.
Best alternate routes for passengers who would normally have taken this route would be to take a train between Gatwick Airport and Elephant & Castle, Blackfriars, Clapham Junction or Victoria and change to another National Rail, London Underground or London Overground service, or onto a local bus. The best route from Gatwick Airport to London Bridge station itself during this time would be a Thameslink service to Elephant & Castle, then change for the Northern line to London Bridge. I'm happy to offer advice if anyone needs help getting around.
