Hilton Park Lane

Apparently there is a security operation around the Hilton Park Lane during the Olympic period. Can I still meet up friends there?

Are your friends staying there? All of the Park Lane hotels are blocked for IOC, heads of state etc. You will not get into the building, possibly not even onto Park Lane itself, without being 'on the list'.

Are you saying that I, a commoner, was very lucky to get 5 nights (over opening) at the Sheraton Park Lane on points?

Sheraton Park Lane is not on Park Lane! It is only vaguely close.

I walk on Park Lane every day on my way to work. Are you aware of any specific, concrete plans to block pedestrian access? If so, please do tell.

I did notice some temporary bollards, a huge fence and a couple of big tents rise in front of the Park Lane Hilton the other day. Quite unpleasant.

You will not be able to enter the hotel unless you can prove you are staying there. See the hotel website.

Thanks, but that wasn't my question. Raffles said "possibly not even onto Park Lane itself". I walk down Park Lane every day and want to know if it's going to be blocked - and it doesn't appear that it will.

What is closed is the road in front of the IC and Four Seasons, which may take in the Hilton forecourt. Park Lane does seem to be open.

Went past the Hilton yesterday and it's got high fences and barriers outside it with a tent for security searches on the way in.

Yeah I couldn't get a room at the IC either.

Sort of on topic, which would be a better neighborhood to be in during the games, the Indigo Paddington or the area around the Crowne Plaza St. James (Buckingham Gate)? I'm double booked and can't decide. Paddington would be more convenient for transport, but I'm not sure about what is happening in those neighborhoods.

If you charge it to your room. Same as other Hilton properties.
