'Operated By TWA' to Be Removed From AA Flights; Makes Flight Selection Clearer, 'Next Logical Step' in AA-TWA Integration
FORT WORTH, Texas, July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumers reserving flights on American Airlines after July 31 will no longer see "Operated by TWA" on AA flight bookings, as the most successful integration of two airlines continues.

"This next step makes it clear to consumers that they're flying American Airlines when they book flights effective Aug. 1," said Mike Gunn, American's executive vice president - Marketing and Planning. "It's the last major step from the customer's perspective of the most successful integration in airline history, done in the midst of a very difficult operating environment with tremendous support from employees across all departments and functions."

In a little more than a year, American Airlines and TWA have integrated most of TWA's functions, including advertising, ticketing, reservations and airport check-in. Most of TWA's aircraft are now decked in Americans Airlines livery, and all have American's distinctive More Room Throughout Coach.

Given this progress, the Department of Transportation agreed that the distinction in terms of flight bookings is no longer necessary.

Holders of existing tickets will not be affected by the change.

TWA LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of American, will maintain a separate FAA air carrier certificate until all TWA flight crews and aircraft are fully integrated into American during the next several years. American acquired substantially all of TWA's assets in April 2001.
