TWA Express to Expand to 9 Daily RJ Departures to St. Louis from Lincoln Airport

TWA Express to Expand to Nine Daily Regional Jet Departures to Its St. Louis Hub from Lincoln Airport Starting December 15

Lincoln Airport Authority Officials today announced that starting December 15, 2001, TWA Express would be expanding to nine daily regional jet departures by adding two additional round trip regional jet flights at the Lincoln Airport to its St. Louis Hub. Today's unprecedented announcement follows TWA Express most recent expansion at the Lincoln Airport. On November 1, 2001, TWA Express added two round trip 50 seat regional jet departures to its St. Louis Hub. TWA currently serves Lincoln, Nebraska with 7 nonstop departures per day to St. Louis. Effective December 2, 2001, TWA will serve Lincoln with eight daily departures to St. Louis and will add the ninth departure on December 15, 2001. The nine departures will be served with a mixture of 50 seat and 44 seat regional jets. Effective December 2, 2001, as part of its integration into the American Airline's system, the TWA Express name will disappear and it will become the AmericanConnection, operated by Chautauqua Airlines.

``Airports like the Lincoln Airport must offer convenience and flexibility to meet the needs of its customers, today's announcement by TWA/American Airlines further strengthens our ability to meet more of the needs of Lincoln and central Nebraska travelers who are using our Airport,'' Reported John Wood, Executive Director for the Lincoln Airport Authority. He went on to say, ``With nine daily regional jet departures, Lincoln travelers will have the flexibility to fly in and out of Lincoln as their schedule requires.'' The expansion to nine daily departures will bring the total number of daily departures by all airlines out of the Lincoln Airport to twenty-four. With this expansion, the Lincoln Airport will become the largest spoke city in the Chautauqua Airline's system for American Airlines serving St. Louis.

This is certainly welcome...
Lincoln is tired of being abused by United Airlines who has pissed off Lincoln's frequent flyers. Hopefully United will lose a good bit of business to American, who will now be the most convenient carrier.
