I am also looking for TK 77W for March 10 SIN-IST, IST-LHR. Does anyone know that it will be operating this route in early March 2010?

Ist-hkg tk070

Hi

Just want to check likelihood of having the 777 on TK70 on a Saturday this July to HKG?

From what I gather on this thread it is supposed to fly on this day, however there could be a chance that there is an equipment change.

EDIT: Just called airline for meal request. I also quickly asked about seating, and was told its actually an Airbus A340 on this route on the day I'm flying.

They are doing a rather poor show of it. I actually HAVE switched some business to TK because of the 777, and have now been screwed twice. Flew HKG-IST, was supposed to be a 777, became a 340. I have SIN coming up, was hoping for 777, and is now listed as a 330!!??!?!?

I have opted for SQ from KUL-SIN-AMS - 772 WITH SAME SEATING AS 77W Oon SIA. But its BMi on AMS-LHR in 'X' class even though I am paying business class miles all the way.

We aware that the SQ seats on the 772 are not the same as the SQ 77W. On the 772 they have angled flat seats i.e. not horizontal so you tend to slide down a little. You will of course get the same SQ service if that kind of thing impresses you.

Thanks, but is the 772 that has 2-2-2 seating? I know the 772 that has the sliding seats - the blue seats, they slide and are used fron SIn to Asian and Aussie routes. This 772 is the one that is used to Copenhagan and AMS? Please let me know if the slide to? I have been on this aircraft but in economy usd o the KUL-SIN route. They looked flat?

The SQ 772s flying to AMS and CPH are 2-2-2 in J with the purple/mauve/lavender -ish Spacebeds are not the same as the 772s with the old blue seats 2-3-2 in J that ply the regional routes. I didn't find the Spacebeds slidey but then again depending on your height and how you set the seat, I didn't find the old blue seats slidey either. Before the New Business Class was first introduced on the SQ 777-300ERs (also used later in A380 and A345) in late 2006, the Spacebeds were the best SQ J seats. Not pure lie-flat like New Business Class but pretty decent IMO for their type.

So the Spacebeds on the 772 are the same Spacebeds on the 747?

Yes. AFAIK there's only 1 type of Spacebed on SQ.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHH! ok! Might have to retink this one and opt for TK if the
77W is on the SIN_ IST or BKK-ISt run on 8th Feb 2010? Currently showing as A330 and no update available as yet.

From what I've heard, the TK 77W J seat is better than the Spacebed and more comparable to SQ New Business Class. I myself would be trying out the 77W J seat end of the month IST-BKK assuming they don't equipment change me.

Will the 77Ws still be around until 2010? When is their lease up?

When you have tried and tested it, please let me know. The lease is for about 3 years I think. Anyway Tk has ordered '5' 77w recently!

I understand the seat is going to be like Virgin's upper class and NZ's business class. If it is, its a very nice seat!!

Very annoying for me though, as I thought for my IST-HKG trip I would have this seat, but alas it seems I will have a A340 seat and am not sure if its going to be an old A340 seat or an updated one.

Unsure of when the leases started, but the wet-lease was for 6 months, and the aircraft are to be dry leased for another 25 months after that, meaning that they're likely to be there until about the middle of 2011.

Grrrrr, so the day before I'm flying IST-HKG they have got the 777, while the day I'm flying is on the A340. Frustrating!!!!
