First year 25k/2 years 37.5k. If you have 25k certain miles, you might as well make it, then after that you can feel free to run another programme or burn your points/credit your miles to another FFP.
If you are travelling solely on Y like me, there might be a chance that TK devalue their miles (again)/adjust the requirement for re-qualification in the future so that you might end up having to pay more/fly more to get the same amount of miles.

Yes, assuming that you have made 40k to obtain elite already. Here's my case: Collected 40k before March 2013, then became elite from Apr. 2013. I flew 25k before Apr. 2014, I have elite until 2017. Now I am running the 25k in order to prolong my elite until 2019.

[QUOTE=vincewy;24665327]It extends 24 months, not 48.
As I status matched in March 2015 I count the period starting from now on.
So if I requalify until March 2016 with 25k then I will have almost 4 years of gold status just with status match+25k miles.

EXACTLY! It is super-sweet compared to chasing status with AC Altitude every year. As it stands now after Oct 2015 (could be as early as July) I won't have to worry about accruing until March 2017, it will feel so liberating. What lies beyond 2019 I have no idea, I just plan to enjoy it while it lasts.

Elite Renewal Within First Year
My Elite Status began in March 2014 and by March 2015 I had already hit the required miles to renew it for another two years. So my Elite Status is valid until March 2018. My question is about the status miles until the 2nd renewal date in 2016? Will they be carried into 2016-18 period or am I just accumulating miles in the dead year which will have no impact on the status but add up to the total miles?

Just received my new card yesterday. Current two year period was ending 7/2015. New card had same package as previous card, meaning it came with new luggage tag as well. New card validity is (obviously) 7/2017 and it have extra "Widen your world" text in lower right corner vs old card.

Will be traveling to Colombia and Cuba after the deadline and would be nice to have access to Avianca/Copa lounges.

Does anyone have any information (/speculation?) about whether or when TK might devalue cheap UA fares further? At the moment the rates still seem okay compared to e.g. A3, especially when paired with TK's low requalification threshold.

In need of urgent help!
I status matched to TK Elite in mid April this year, and as I can see my card expires on the 30th of April 2017. Now to the greenhorn question (as I am not the most enlightened person in this FFP-forum..):
What do I have to do to keep my Elite-card another two years, and on and on? Do the comments above this post mean that I need to acquire 25 000 miles until the 30th of April 2016?
And what difference does it make for me, if I choose to do the 37 000 miles? (Also how does that work when the 25k gives you another 2 years too?)
Please help me.
