Update March 2015: Recent reports indicate the unofficial status match programme is running reasonably smoothly.

TK will only match Star Alliance Gold, Skyteam Elite Plus and Oneworld Emerald members. Other, more exotic, gold card holders are out of luck. Please report your experience in this thread.

It appears that status matches are only granted once per lifetime, so think carefully before requesting if you might not re-qualify.

Please note that the only way to contact TK is now via the website

We have received your message that you sent to our unit on 20 January 2015. Please be informed that when you claim your first flight with Turkish Airlines or other Star Alliance members to your Miles&Smiles account, your card will be sent to your address automatically.

On the otherhand, we would like to remind you that you can also get your original Miles&Smiles Card from Card Press Desk at Ataturk Airport International Terminal between 07.30 A.M and 09.45 PM. The location of Card Press desk is between A and B Check-in counters.

Timeline can range from few hours to few days, be patient!

It looks like TK might also ask you for a scan of your Passport now. So if you are in a hurry better submit it right away in the first place with all the other documents.

When you go into your account, on the left hand side, under your elite card picture, right below the 'MILES' option, you will see a sub-option for statement. After clicking it, a pop-up should appear, with your status written in BOLD and super big letters at the top!!

Got a notification about Classic Plus, logged in and I received Elite status. It took 9 days after my request.

They did not repair my address as requested.

Do you think that they would send my card pronto if I provided a Turkish address? I can do that. I guess that I would change the address and then use the "lost card" notification shortly thereafter.

My US address is messed up because of the issue with having to select a city and it's not available for either a street address or PO Box address that I have in the US. But Aniak, Alaska and Arctic Village are both options.

I guess there is no electronic version of the card? United has a nice feature where your card is displayed on their App, actually showing both sides. It would be useful in order to get into lounges in the US on domestic flights.

I don't remember reading any report of anyone getting the card in mail in USA.

There is no electronic version of the card.

You should be able to use your FF# for lounge access.

Looks like I can add another successful data point. Applied for a match on October 13th from OW Emerald (US Chairman). Nothing for a couple of month and then on New Year's eve received a email asking me for a physical copy. I sent my physical copy and sent a follow up new feedback on the 14th because it looked like my statement pdf was not opening properly. I heard nothing but I received a statement today that mentioned Elite Status. Looks like I was upgraded on the 17th. I did credit 2 United Flights on December 23rd.

I think plenty of us have received card bt mail at US address.

It required sending message through their system and took several months (3-4 months) but did get a very fancy package with luggage tags and very usefull gold card.

Ugh. After getting matched last December, I finally received my welcome envelope....in this battered envelope, with only this letter inside:



Seems like the card/tag package fell out of the envelope after it got mangled somewhere between Turkey and the US. I guess it's time to go back to our favorite TK Message Center and hope it doesn't take another month for a reply. At least my A3 card will still work for my trip next week.

Was your envelope all taped up like it had been opened and re-sealed? I wonder if it might be a customs issue instead.

I've applied on the 28 January as BA Gold (OWE) - so far nothing. I have just sent them a message with a booking I made for travel on TK this Sunday - hope that helps.

Status matched back in December and just received my package last night. The tape on the package wasn't very sticky and the package was open but fortunately everything stayed in there. Also I should note I haven't had any flight activity on this account yet

Thanks for this thread. I did the status match so am now Elite on Turkish! Probably a very stupid question but if I fly Turkish, can I earn miles on both United and Turkish? And if not both, can I just get United credit?

I was status matched in early January and sent a message through the lost card option on M&S website requesting my physical card. Here is what they sent me:

Dear xxx,

We have received your message that you sent to our unit on 20 January 2015. Please be informed that when you claim your first flight with Turkish Airlines or other Star Alliance members to your Miles&Smiles account, your card will be sent to your address automatically.

What a surprise? Contrary to what I posted couple of days ago about an email response I got from M&S customer service, I returned from a week long trip last night and found an envelope from Turkish M&S in my mailbox. Included in the envelope was my elite card with 1/17 expiration.
