I wonder if this price will decrease with the bombings.

Why should it? I don't remember flights to the US, Paris, Madrid or London getting any cheaper.

US domestic flight prices decreased sharply after 9/11.

Anyway I have a flight Tuesday to IST from IAH. I see 20 open seats in business out of 49. I'm curious to see what the upgrade price is. I paid $750 in October 2014. If it's $1000 I'm not sure that's worth it. Though I only paid $649 for the round trip total.

The rate for upgrade from Y to J was $1299 from LAX-IST in Nov 2015. I am confident that the cost will be similar for your flight as well...maybe $100 or so less.

If people are so concerned about their own safety that they will buy off flying but then be swayed by a cheap ticket is not but amazing

Hard to say

SFO/LAX-IST offer was $1299
ORD/JFK-IST offer was $999
IAD-IST offer was $500

So my guess would be $999 as ORD and IAH are both central geographically.

But my hope would be $500

Let us know what happens. I was happy upgrading to Comfort Class for $350 on LAX-IST. Business didn't seem worth the cost. Comfort Class was awesome!! Slept for 8 hours like a baby!!

My parents upgraded to confort class for $200 in December 2013 IAH-IST. I think for me 750 is my limit, 1000 is a lot. Plus looks like the flight is mostly empty though, meaning one could get a free row! Though that could be deceptive because many people may select seat during online check in.

Technical question....

I am flying BUD-IST-NRT, obviously would be interested in upgrading the IST-NRT leg, should i inquire about in BUD or IST (I read the part about it not being always possible at IST) or both is ok,

Thanks

Unfortunatly and apparantly they only offer discounted upgrades on outstations on long haul flights. (Same issue here, BRU-IST-NRT next week)

$999 IAH-IST. I declined. But who needs it when plane is half empty and you can have a row to yourself?

to make the situation even worse, there is no Y+ on IST>NRT since it is operated on a A333, but who knows, I will try asking both in BUD and IST... will let you know on friday how that worked out for me....
