Just wondering: Are these paid upgrades offered ex-Europe as well or only on longhaul flights?
Also, is there any other method to upgrade (other than paying 17.5k miles each way)?

SFO-IST last Friday - work colleague reported USD 999 upgrade advertised, he said the flight was fairly full in C. Today it was USD 699, but my flight is fairly empty. I will update the wiki when I arrive into IST (using on-board wi-fi to report using my Smartphone).

It will be TPE-IST and not TPE-LHR. Check wiki - I updated it last year with rates that were then offered. You can use it as a baseline, the offers might be lower this year.

Today, TK were offering BOM-IST for $400. The supervisor told me that 4 seats were available and these were sold just after check-in opened. It seems that travellers from BOM are well aware of the discounted C upgrade offer and are checking in early to take advantage of it.
The check-in agents were also aggressively marketing exit row seats for $59. Even E+ cardholders were being refused exit seats unless they coughed up the extra cash. Unfortunately, I have seen physically incapable people in exit rows who are there purely because they are able to pay.

Saw a sign at HEL for €150 to upgrade to business. I thought it was much but comparing to the other European destinations listed it is actually lower.

Hey Guys,
was looking for Info about a possibility to make a cash upgrade on MUC-IST-HRG on Oct 22nd. Couldn´t find it for either city pair. My assumption would be 200EUR each leg. Would that be realistic?
Cheers

I have the same question. I am flying BOS-IST on TK on Sep 17, returning Oct 23. I looked into upgrading with AE/A3 miles/points, with no luck.
Does anyone know, or know where to look/who to ask, about cash upgrades for this route?

Other than rebooking your ticket, your only option will be to upgrade at counter, which should come to $1k or a little under IIRC

Thanks,gr8pirate, Re-booking isn't an option, although even if it was, I wouldn't buy business.
I just noticed all the comments here, and wondered if the upgrade at the desk might be a little more reasonable than $1K. Would be nice to be comfortable at least on the night flight. I guess I'll survive, although I will ask at the desk/gate when I get there. Thanks again.

I only upgrade with miles. 1k for the cash upgrade works out to about $ 70/hour in the air for me on TK9 or TK10....call me cheap, but I'm comfortable in Y for that kind of hourly 'wage'.

I have lots of Aeroplan and Aegean miles that I'd be happy to use for an upgrade, but I'm told that my fare class isn't eligible for upgrade with miles. I'm really only interested in the outbound, as it's a night flight, and it would be nice to be comfortable. The ride back is longer, but at least it's in the daytime. Thanks again.
