Upgrade
You get the upgraded ticket's miles. As comfort class is gone, it is safe to say you get the busines class miles.

Anyone Pay For An Upgrade Recently?
Has anyone paid for a last minute upgrade recently (not using miles) from anywhere in the United States to Istanbul, particularly from Los Angeles? I'm curious if you were offered an upgrade from coach to business class, how much did it cost. Was the upgrade offered at the airport during check in or were you emailed in advance? Just wondering if I will be able to possibly surprise my family with an upgrade later this month.
Thanks
Thanks

I've flown from LAX 3 times recently and upgrades weren't actively offered. However, once I did see a sign advertising upgrades at the economy checkin desk. If memory serves me correct, it was well over a thousand dollars (I want to say 1200 or 1300) and I didn't consider it good value for an airport upgrade.

It depends on whether the ticket is revalidated or reissued. if the ticket is reissued (new ticket number after change), you will receive business class miles. If the ticket is revalidated (same ticket number after change), you will earn miles based on the original fare booked.
Strictly speaking, they're supposed to revalidate the ticket (and you're supposed to earn miles based on the original fare booked). However, some stations may process the upgrade as an upfare instead or make a mistake processing the ticket, so it's very possible to get lucky and earn business class miles.

I'll keep that in mind and would now reconsider upgrading myself knowing that.

OLCI?
Does OLCI matter or not? I'm interested to find out on YYZ-IST-JRO r/t since both legs are long. YYZ-IST is 10hrs, JRO-IST is 9hrs (due to MBA stop).
I'll give an update when I travel at the end of the month.
