If I'm understanding correctly, the whole background check and biometric kiosk doesn't really add any value if the end result is to allow you to merely skip ahead of a bunch of people straight to the TSA document checker based on PreCheck status on BP. Why do you even need a background check and biometric to cut the line when screening process is exactly the same as if you are not enrolled in Clear (rhetorical question)?

That used to be the case but for the past year we simply bypass the TSA <id checker> with a nod and a wink and head straight to the precheck conveyor belt. I say "we" because you are always escorted by a Clear employee.

Now you have to scan your BP at the document checker desk; no need to show ID since you verified at CLEAR.

I've used CLEAR several times in the past 2 months and did not have to scan anything at the desk @SFO. YMMV

Same here at SFO. The CLEAR rep. just nod to the TSA document checker and walk me straight to the queue for the scanner.

When you apply for the program and scan your information, is it available to use instantly? You used to have to wait five days to receive the card, but if that's no longer required, can you begin using CLEAR moments after scanning your biometrics at the airport?

Not worth it anymore out of IAH

Since they pulled Terminal C and B clear lanes out of IAH, its no longer worth it to me....

I wish I was flying to SEA / DEN more often, but I've turned off my autorenew and will let it expire at the end of the year.

If you still have clear at your home airport and TSA pre-check, it's well worth the money.

If you are not going to use it, you can cancel. Per the Clear terms of service, you get a full pro rata refund.

$179 is quite steep for something that GE does pretty well for me. But then again, it is not a big deal to me if I wait a few minutes, so I could see the case for someone more important.

If you have the money, you can have CLEAR and Pre-Check. Then you jump to the head of the Pre-Check line.

That's been my experience also. Probably since at least early this year.

Happy to see they've opened up in DC.
