Same, I took it as if you failed to end your trial while still in the trial stage, it'd charge you the $30; however otherwise would mean you'd simply have to cancel after enjoying your 119 days of free line skipping.

Maybe you all already knew this, but I was a bit shocked to see that there are several professional sports stadiums that now have CLEAR. That's a good bonus!
I'm going to see if I can register at IAD Sunday morning. The web says the CLEAR office is open at 5am each day. Somehow I doubt that will be the case Sunday, but I'll give it a shot. Maybe at 6am.

This charge is new. A few months ago I started a thread pointing out that there was a pro rata refund with no penalty.

The CLEAR office is just the kiosks. In DEN, they actually have a few kiosks set aside away from security (south checkpoint) just for enrollment. Mrs. Swede registered at the north checkpoint, and she was enrolled at the same CLEAR kiosks travelers use.

I ended up arriving at IAD around 7:30am and there were 4 people ahead of me to enroll! There are only two enrollment machines so I had a bit of a wait. The CLEAR staff doing the enrollment were very customer oriented and an enthusiastic young lady helped me get setup. Indeed you can use CLEAR to access the PreCheck line at IAD. I'll try the other check in area later this week when I have to fly with BA.
But I wonder how long CLEAR will have short or no lines if my little experience shows that a lot of people are signing up?
Also my fingerprints didn't work at the checkpoint and I had to resort to my eyes. Not sure if it was due to early morning and the fact that I had just showered or the fact that the lady doing the enrollment had me wash my hands with Purelle.

FWIW I've used CLEAR+Precheck a number of times in several different locations and while I can't 100% swear to it, I do not remember my boarding pass ever being rescanned by the TSA checker. The CLEAR employee just says "one for Precheck" and then escorts me past the checker. But I could certainly believe that this varies by airport and/or who's working the line on any given day.

Interesting, because SEA is one of the airports where I've used it and I don't recall a rescan. But again my memory could be faulty (and I only used it once at SEA). The others being SFO, SJC, BWI, and LAS.

My first Clear experience was at BWI on Saturday afternoon.
Since I had Pre-check, the incredibly nice Clear person at Concourse C waived me down to B (not all that far). Confused as the B Clear lane appeared closed, so I asked the enrollment person there about it; she responded that they "aren't allowed" to have machines at the lines, so ticketed pax have to Clear at the nearby enrollment station (my fingers failed first, so she took my hand and positioned and pressed down for me); the rep escorted me to the TSA agent to have my bp scanned (he seemed vaguely bored or disgusted by the process). The B rep was very professional, just not as ...bubbly. So far, the Clear reps I've talked with have ranged from professional, if not notably friendly, to ones with truly outstanding people skills.
There was no real Pre line, so frankly it felt a bit ... silly, but had there been a Pre queue (more than just a couple of pax), then the membership would've been totally worth it.

So I signed up using the 4-month code. Interestingly I didn't get a confirmation email, but I did get a $1 pre-auth on my credit card.
Fast forward to today, and they couldn't find me in the system when trying to do the in-person enrollment.
I wonder if something went wrong because I used a gmail "alias" (i.e. [email protected]), and therefore my enrollment was lost (despite the website confirming my enrollment). I really hope they don't end up charging me for that (but I guess I can easily dispute any charges, since I'm not planning to re-enroll until my next flights which aren't for another month or so, so it's obvious it's an unrelated cahrge).
