Keep checking, and I mean at least every half hour. There is a 1 day online cancellation cutoff, so you are in the sweet spot to grab a 8/26 slot. Tough when only a single opens up, but sometimes families cancel. I speak from recent experience as I had my interview at Champlain a few days ago and got the appt 2 days before.

I checked when I flew into yul on my application (had lots of time). Canada side approved it and it's pending on the usa side. Called up my local GE office and left them a message. Figured it wouldn't hurt. After next week, I won't be in Canada until Dec, so hopefully it'll get approved soon.
At worse I'll take a road trip to Detroit.
What's the maximum time one can wait after approval to schedule a appointment?

My wife received her approval at 11:09 this morning.
The kids and I had our interviews today at 4:00 & 4:30 @ Fort Erie. My wife joined us. Unfortunately they could not take her, as they were backed up today.
We arrived at about 3:15, left by 4:15.
They said card should be in the mail in about 10 days. A little waiting, but pretty seamless.

All approved, now waiting for cards
Applied May 31, conditional approval Aug 13, and interview times were wide open in Pembina and Warroad. All 5 of us inteviewed today, took maybe 30 minutes, couldn't get fingerprints for 4YO and finally gave up. Was told that is common for little kids. The machine just wouldn't register them. Now we wait for the cards! Good luck to everyone.
EDIT: forgot to mention I needed nothing but our passports. I brought the letters, birth certificates for the kids and drivers licenses but they didn't look at anything except passports.

Quick approval post interview
I was one of the mid-May (2016) applicants to NEXUS who, in spite of already having Global Entry, experienced a pretty long wait (> 11 weeks) until receiving my conditional approval. Today, I had my interview and iris-scan in Vancouver (downtown) and was delighted to receive an email, just 30-45 minutes later, to my GOES account to inform me of my final approval.
