I know I'm getting ahead of ourselves ... but this really made me laugh ....
Our fabulous server Vasanthi who insisted that we try a glass of the Chateau Peymouton St-Emilion Grand Cru. Just like in a government subsized Delta Club. LOL.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Just finished two amazing Qatar A380 First flights and a whirlwind 5 hour tour of Guangzhou. In spite of my stupidly misplacing my boarding pass and dodging an incoming typhoon, made our CAN-DXB EK A380 and feel like a million bucks after a great shower. Waiting for batmandds to finish his shower and we'll move over to 1DF for dinner.
Thank you enviroian. I think gaobest answered that one as I never flew UA enough to know what they were doing at SFO.
Thanks Matthew. If you think that's a contrast, wait until you see the spectacular Al Safwa First Class Lounge at Doha.
Thanks very much worldtraveller73. At least I found a seat at The Amex Lounge, which can be difficult at times. And there was no line at check-in. ^
Thank you sl00001. Indeed, I believe that was one of his works.
I gave them a pass for that.
LOL. Thanks roadwarrier.
Thanks very much gaobest. I know it may seem like a lot to go thru, but our Qatar flights and the Al Safwa Lounge were all spectacular and well worth the misery of UA and DL.
Not to mention our new Emirates friends tonight.
LOL. Thank you TBD.
Thanks our_kid. We enjoyed our quick 5 hours but we're already outta Dodge and on our way to Dubai, just before the typhoon.
Thanks for the report! That UA club...is that the new one they built say a year or so ago that upon opening it was immediately determined it was way too small? When I was with UA I would frequent the club that is across the way from the San Francisco Soup Company but your pics don't resemble that club.
Great report so far, SFO777! Been looking forward to seeing your newest reports and so am looking forward to this very much! Wow, what a difference the lounge in Paris is to the United Club in SFO. United Polaris looks okay, but not as amazing as the pictures make it out to look
All best, Matthew
All best, Matthew
Off to another great start. It seems like it's been awhile. I see that the Amex Cent Lounge at SFO was packed as always. I have to give props for United as they have come along way in the last 10 years in the lounge world compared to their old Red Carpet Clubs- missing bananas aside LOL!!
I gave them a pass for that.
The SF soup Co is in T3, and that's the UAL domestic lounge. This lounge is in Intl Terminal, and is just a larger version as they're upstairs from the major airline action of the terminal. Loads of space but less great soft services. Great TR but honestly it feels brutal to endure DL and UAL in order to get to fly 48 hours in F.
Not to mention our new Emirates friends tonight.
Thanks our_kid. We enjoyed our quick 5 hours but we're already outta Dodge and on our way to Dubai, just before the typhoon.

IMO, Emirates FAs are the best. That one picture just brought back so many good memories from EF F last November.
Also it amazes me that an airport as large and important as LAX can be such a complete **** show.

Polaris Business Class Seat 6D
I arrived at the gate just before boarding started.
I selected on inside bulkhead seat 6D in the 2nd mini-cabin, which is regarded by UA Flyertalks as the best seat on the plane. The bulkhead seats had larger cut out cubby holes for your feet when sleeping. OK, it may be the best on this plane but it's a far cry from anyone's First Class.
This is a nice touch and indeed the Saks Fifth Avenue pillow and duvet were very nice.
Friendly and pleasant FAs made the rounds hanging up jackets and serving PDBs and chocolates. But no one is going to confuse this with First Class. With 48 Business Class, it was pretty hectic as the bag swinging jackass on 7B and the entire Economy cabin of 200+ boarded at 2L and walked thru the Business mini-cabin.
United's wine list, mostly 86, 87 and 88 rated wines, although the Tempranillo had a sticker on the bottle claiming Robert Parker gave it a 94. We'll see about that.
The Polaris amenity kit. Nice packaging with the Saks logo.
But a grab bag of mostly meh.
The IFE system had a hand controller which was mostly useless as it could only scroll up, down, left or right and not enter anything. So I just used the touch screen controls.
The forward Business Class cabin.
After take-off our crew was quick to start service.
My usual G&T.
Then inexplicably, just as I started sipping on my G&T, another FA brought out the dinner tray. Seriously?? Ever heard of pacing? It's a 3pm departure and a 10 hour flight for effsake. I asked him to please go away, LOL and serve me at the end, which he obliged.
Fifteen minutes later, my meal tray. Doesn't that look good.
The smoked duck was just OK.
While the salad was just gross and inedible.
Apparently catering is rationing the garlic butter on the "garlic" bread.
After those two starters, I was dreading the worst with my pork chop. But lo and behold, I was served a large and beautiful pork chop.
Perfectly prepared, moist and delicious! After a 2nd G&T, I tried a glass of the Parker rated 94 Tempranillo which was actually quite nice.
And the dessert cart.
My made to order sundae was excellent, with chocolate sauce and extra M&Ms. Love the cardboard bowl which United is using since their old glass apparently were chipping.
With the help of a little Ambien, I slept pretty well for nearly 4 hours and then did a little work. Wifi worked reasonably well but sporadically. It was a little pricey at $28 for the flight.
Breakfast options were the omelet or fruit plate.
The omelet was pretty good.
And so was the cinnamon bun.
We touched down at CDG 15 minutes early and were at the gate a few minutes later. All in all, a reasonably pleasant flight for the price. But it's a far cry from Air France or even Lufthansa First Class and I don't want to make a habit of it.

Nice handy cubby holes for the blanket/pillow during take off. I wish all airlines served ice-cream for dessert as yours looks rather nice!

SFO777, once again great start of the TR.
On your website, the image you're using as header for this TR shows an Etihad 777 First Class. Apparently, the picture comes from one of our previous TR. So I hope you really were able to enjoy First Class Appartments and did not undergo an equipment change. Can't wait to know !!
