Konnichiwa! LH F (via FRA FCT & a 911) to Japan for Sakura. Back home via Shanghai.

The following report can be filed under: The things you do to get a LH F rubber ducky, in this case the Easter '17 Special Edition...
Or to put it into a slightly more romantic context:
Last year's trip to Tokyo during Sakura (cherry blossom season) to celebrate Mrs JohnRain's birthday was such a great experience that we decided to do it all over again, but this time we also included Osaka and Kyoto into the mix.
To add some contrast we spent a few days in Shanghai on the way back. Special thanks to my TA and fellow FT'er BESVISOR for making this trip unforgettable.

Here's the itinerary:

LH C CDG-FRA
FRA FCL A
LH F Porsche Experience with a 911 Carrera S convertible
FRA FCT
LH F FRA-HND (B748)
Shangri-La Tokyo
Sakura in Tokyo
JAL F HND-ITM
St Regis Osaka
Sakura in Osaka & Kyoto
JAL C KIX-PVG
Park Hyatt Shanghai
Out and about in Shanghai
LH F PVG-FRA (A380 private cabin)
FRA FCT & the Easter '17 rubber ducky
LH C FRA-CDG

Stay tuned!

One of these days our paths are bound to cross in the FCT - unfortunately we missed by just a couple of days this time.

Thanks a lot Madone59! Fortunately I arrived in Shanghai a few days after the F1 race, that way I didn't have to see Lewis win...

For sure ironmanjt! I'm glad you got "the very last" Easter ducky since I got "the last" two days prior...

My flight to Tokyo was scheduled to leave FRA at 6.05 PM and a departure from CDG at 9.20 AM therefore perfectly justified. I was tempted to book the 7.50 AM flight, but decided otherwise for the sake of our marriage. I didn't have any food in the lounge, but I'm really bad at saying no when someone hands me a tray on a plane...

Forget about fully-enclosed suites and caviar, this is what First Class should look like (taken from the April edition of LH Magazine).

Deutschland, Deine Wälder, Deine Luft...

When flying Y or C I obviously hate apron positions and bus transfers, but in F the situation is a bit different. When we started our descent towards FRA, I grew increasingly nervous as I was eagerly waiting for the captain's announcement that "due to heavy traffic we would unfortunately disembark from an apron position, but no luck today as it would be a B gate position. When we reached our final parking position the captain spoke again, this time to announce that due to our early arrival the gate wasn't ready yet and that we would therefore be driven to the terminal by bus. It didn't take long for this lovely bus to arrive...

That's right, come to papa.

Driving among LH heavies never loses its appeal.

As I would later be heading to the Avis counter I opted for breakfast and lunch in FCL A.

Hello Goethe!

I bet you didn't write your Werther on an empty stomach either...

Breakfast!

The fresh fruit smoothie isn't on the menu but the bartender happily obliged.

One of the nice aspects of FCL A (compared to the FCT) is the view.

The good thing about a late breakfast is that you don't have to wait long for lunch.

Very nice starter selection from the buffet.

Schnitzel or fillet of beef? Silly question, I know.

First Schnitzel...

...then Fillet.

A bit of fish and some veggies to finish.

No lunch is complete without some cheese.

Hand me that menu again love, I'm ready for dessert.

A quick digestif...

... and a few candies to avoid hypoglycemia during my upcoming ride.

Porsche time!

So long, FCL A, it was nice to see you again.

Up Next: Move over granny, my car is faster than yours.

I think the veggies are the best looking item available there. Well, other than the desserts.

Haha, well roadwarrier, I could live with the smell of fresh ham and beer, but then again I'm of German origin...
Thanks for your kind comment as always.
