Amazing report as usual, SFO777. Air France looks incredible, and like your last report about them, their First Class looks to be the best in the skies today. Looking forward to the next part!

Indeed, First and ever Business on the 77W is so much nicer that the A380.

The 'behind-the-scenes' of the first day of harvest at Chateaux Giscours must have been great to see too. I really admire your stamina for getting up in the middle of the night during your vacation to watch the big debate. Hopefully it was the result you were wanting as well.
Thanks DanielW. It was a treat to be there on the first day of harvest. I would have preferred to sleep but it was Mrs. SFO777's idea to get up in the middle of the night.

Thanks offerendum. No doubt it would be nice to take a short and convenient nonstop than having to connect somewhere.

That 2012 was sensational. Indeed, we had another bottle with lunch the next day.

LOL. Good catch. Copy and paste is not your friend some days. That has been corrected. Thanks UpperDeckDude.

As in mini bar? That was under the counter in the main foyer area.

Thanks very much 757. It is indeed our airline of choice these days.

No, I meant a bar like shown on this picture:

Seems to be quite useless but extravagant. Only had such bars in Vegas if I remember correctly.

Found my failure. The opera house view suites comes without the bar... Only the prestige suites without view seems to offer one.

Whoa, looks pretty but I agree with you on the quite useless but extravagant part.

Glad we got the opera house view without the bar.

There is at least one suite with the opera house view and the bar.
I stayed at it last year and while I agree it's extravagant and useless it's also a lot of fun, as it was stocked with a few complimentary bottles of red.
This is Bordeaux after all...

Ah yes, an unhappy Mrs. SFO777 will make for a terrible vacation for Mr SFO777. Never wise to upset the Mrs.

Alain Ducasse. Oui! What a menu!

And a stunning breakfast! I think the best plate I have seen for a long time.

I will continue to follow this TR (like the rest of us food junkies!).

Thanks for bringing us the entertainment, SFO777 !

Great trip report, as usual. Now AF F has to be on my bucket list. Of course, we'll head to Beaune instead of Bordeaux, but otherwise, I think you've done quite well SFO777.

Great trip report! Although intra-EU J is always a bummer.

Out of curiosity, how do French people view your Quebec French? I heard it's kinda like the equivalent of the southern accent in the US?

Bordeaux, La Ville.

By the time we'd had breakfast, showered and dressed, it was afternoon noon, of 1AM Pacific Time. OK, even flying First Class, the first days in Europe are tough for those acclimated to 9 hours behind in California. We missed the morning Hop On Hop Off buses, so we decided to explore some of this charming and historic city on foot.

We actually were heading for a particular highly rated cheese shop but found it closed... on a Monday??

We just made the 2:15p HOHO, which acually isn't a HOHO here. Just does a one hour tour of the city. Perfect for a first day, especially when Mrs. SFO777 announced "... I'm going to hop on the bus but I ain't hopping off..."

The Garonne River is typically brown, not because it is dirty but rather due to the tidal bore which brings a layer of sand up the river. Despite the color, it is apparently a very clean river.

Cool parking garage with a car hanging off the side. ^

An hour later, we're back near our hotel.

And back at the Brasserie for a very late light lunch.

After a nap and despite my suggestion that we try another restaurant, at 9pm we headed back downstairs to Le Bordeaux where Mrs. SFO777 wanted to try the Beef Wellington.
But to start, a lovely bottle of St-Emilion Grand Cru.

Le Boeuf Wellington was indeed delicious although Mrs. SFO777 noted that they had not seared the beef enough before the wrap.

Food was great but more service issues tonight. There is just not enough staff at this place. And this table cloth sat unchanged for the last hour we were there.

OK, no more Gordon Ramsay this trip my love!
