I've just added the first segment to this report. I just arrived today in South Africa and will hopefully get the second segment up soon. Emirates is a strong fighter!

The fires are causing lots of problems. There are 12 different fires at the moment. It's crazy.
News about the bike race on Sunday that I and 38,000 people will be riding in will definitely have an altered course.
It was 40 degrees Celsius when I arrived today which is just making the fires worse. Say a short prayer!

The highlight of choosing Emirates First Class on the A380 is the opportunity to take a shower. Being the only carrier that offers this feature, it’s still a thrill.

Welcome to our city (again). The fires have been devastating. Hope we've finally seen the worst. Thankfully today is a good 15 degrees cooler.
ETA And now a blissful, unseasonal little rain shower!

Update
I've just added the report on the Culinary Flight Lunch at the Burj Al Arab after the report on the EK SFO-DXB flight.
Also I received an email today that the bike race has been greatly affected by the continuing fires here in Cape Town. They have shorted the route from 104 km to 47 km. The big problem is that they need to start setting up the route and the fire engines are still trying to get around to put out the fires. It's a big mess. For a couple of years, they put the race on Ou Kaap Se Weg while Chapman's Peak was closed. They called it the Cycle-DETOUR. I'm not sure what they are going to call this one: Cycle-Fire-Tour.

Thank you for your report olafman but I had to join the guess-the-billionaire lottery: Azim Premji?

I've now added the review of the EK flight from DXB-CPT to the post about Emirates. It was another strong flight for EK. Will Etihad be up for the challenge?
We'll know more in a week!

I have so say that I much prefer a short train ride than a collection of multiple moving sidewalks like the ones in the new Terminal 2 of LHR. Whoever designed that should be shot. A twenty minute journey of walking and moving sidewalks is not a modern solution. The Queen should be embarrassed to be the namesake of T2.
Good pictures and nicely written as well.
Btw, how much was the meal at Al Arab (w/o wine pairings)?
