Awesome report Sixth Freedom - the meal looks very substantial and delicious! Just a shame about the seats and their lack of recline.

How long were the flight times?

Between reading this trip report and last week's Ukraine/Belarus one I am definitely seeing a trip to the Uzbek restaurant down the street for manti and plov in my very near future.

Thanks 6F, very nice to see something a bit different than the usual! Business class arrivals and departures building? Now that sounds good to me...

I did not have any alcohol onboard in either direction. There was plenty of scotch and vodka in Uzbekistan itself...

There does not seem to be so much information out there about HY so I was glad to have the chance to do this TR. Something a bit different to a glass of krug in CX F...

Uzbekistan was certainly an 'experience' - I am looking forward to returning to visit Bukhara and Samarkand when the weather is a bit better.

They were very nice if you like central asian women. Personally I think that Uzbekistan ladies are some of the most beautiful that you will find anywhere.

We were on the plane for just over eight hours in each direction.

Enjoy your trip and don't be phased by any officious staff.

After returning from Uzbekistan I did not need to have much to eat for a week!

Don't expect too much - the key expression here is relatively better off!

Great report, very interesting. Thanks for posting.

Next time I'd be interested in any (non-incriminating) photographs you took on the ground.

Appropriate plov is made by layering meat on top of carrots/veggies on top of rice.
