Did you say what camp you stayed in? I am curious to know.
Thanks,

This is a fairly unique trip report (I think) in that it barely shows the traveling but concentrates instead on the destination. Outstanding pictures.

I'd be interested to hear more about your accommodations etc...

How long did you spend on Safari?

Did you go solo, or join a group tour?

I've been to the Serengeti, but would really love to visit Mara too.
Thank you.
We spent three nights / four days in the Mara. I travelled together with my mother (my christmas present for her) The first two days it was just us, the remaining days two other persons joined our jeep.

I love every single shot, and I understand how much time and patience you have had to go through to come up with these amazing shots.

I went to the safari in South Africa with a friend last year and did the safari trip, and I have been too busy to turn the photos taken from my trip into a report such you have done here. Seeing yours has made me wanting to go back to Africa.

Well done!
Thanks for your kind words.
And i know the problem with not finding the time to write reports - i still have a few more trips i already took and havent written about yet.

With all the terrorism in Kenya I am a bit scared to go now.
Thank you.
The flight to Nairobi was a very good offer from Etihad - even cheaper then going to New York for example. How much the flights to the Masai Mara are i cant say - i booked a whole package with flights, accomodation, gamedrives all in one.
Aside from the usual shots like Hepatitis i only took Malaria Pills.
We didn`t spend much time in Nairobi - just two nights - but didn`t feel unsafe (but we didnt`t leave the hotel)

Thank you - and it wasnt the last exotic plane - the flight back was on a even smaller one.

Entim Mara Camp

Bevore i continue with pictures from the game drives lets talk a little about our camp.

We stayed in one of the smaller camps in the Mara - the Entim Mara Camp, which lies almost in the middle of the park close to the mara river

Aside from the bigger tents with bar and restaurant there are ten smaller tents for the guests

Here you see the restaurant in the front and the bar in the back

And thats how the tents for the guests look like

Separated by a curtain from the living room is the "Bathroom" with shower and toilette

There was even warm water (warmed by solar energy) available.

Instead of returning to the camp for breakfast we took our breakfast with us on the game drives. Lunch and Dinner however were served at the camp. With a great view over the mara river.

We could even see hippos and crocodiles while having lunch!

As long as it wasn't raining we also had a campfire in the evening when returning to the camp.

Two nights were a little rainy - so instead of at the fire i had a few drinks in the Bar-Tent

We started our gamedrives at half past six in the morning. We had breakfast later on the gamedrive - but started the day with a coffee and a few bites to eat.

You could even walk the few meters from the camp down to the mara river

Thats our tent as seen from the river

And here the opposite view from our terrace.

Masai Mara Safari - Part 5

And here a few more pictures i took during the safari

Another group of lions

They really behave like our cat at home!

The second day we visited the Leopards tree again - unfortunately no Leopard to be seen - but more of his prey up in the tree!

Hippos outside of the water look a little strange.

Masai Mara Safaria - Part 6

You remember the Movie "The ghost and the darkness"? Those two lions we met on our last day reminded me of that.

When they are thirsty Giraffes down look elegant at all.

This Hippo doesn`t really look fine.

Also this lion had a wound.

And a few more pictures:

Our Escort on the way to the landing strip.

this is the first trip report in a while that has made me step back and say - wow!

the sheer beauty of nature in these photographs makes our obsession of looking at first class seats and bottles of krug seem almost pathetic!

Awesome. The picture of the two male lions walking, the one in front is called Lipstick. Magnificent males.
