// LHR - SIN // 10 days in Asia-lite //
(Posting this report from October, apologies for the slight lateness.)
It was 3:30pm on Thursday the 10th of October - I'd just finished a three-hour law exam and my hands were ready to drop off from all the writing. I was meant to have been thinking about the finer points of criminal law - but all I could envisage was the 13 hour flight I had the next day and 10 days relaxing in Singapore that came with it.
At the gate in Heathrow T5, where is our plane!
The plane arrives, we take off at around 21:45. Food is served, I watch a couple of movies and grab some sleep. I wake up, open the blind and am confronted by a rather pretty cloud formation over India.
We touch down after a pleasant half-day or so being catered for by the excellent BA15 crew. We whisk through customs in a matter of minutes and begin the short journey to the hotel. After a change of clothes and a bite to eat, it's already dark. We are tired so decide a quick cocktail at the top of our hotel before bed would round the evening off nicely.
The view from said hotel bar:
I wake up early the next morning feeling fresher than expected. The curtains automatically open and reveal a cloudless start to the day:
I have no intention of working today. We pop down to Chinatown for a quick explore:
Feeling suitably cultured, we head back to the hotel for an afternoon swim:
We return to the room, shower and change. What to do now? I glance at the pile of textbooks that have travelled with me - Ok perhaps I better fit in some work today. The light around me begins to fade, the books are packed away. We head down to the shopping area for a browse before being picked up and dined at the wonderful Alkaff Mansion.
The 'Floating' LV Store
Tummy's full with European delights, we are dropped back at the hotel, where we proceed to go for a wander. We look back the way we have come and marvel at the building we are staying in.
Marina Bay Sands Hotel
The following days roll by in a similar fashion. We also visited the Botanical Gardens and Pasir Ris park where I indulge in my love of wildlife photography.
These are a few of the many local residents we encountered
I'm all 'animaled' out now. Time to get back to exploring the city itself. Wait, what do you mean you have one of the best Zoos in the world? If I must...
(For anyone that likes Zoos and hasn't been to the one in Singapore; it's paradise on earth)
I wanted to shoot something a bit different whilst there, so I went for headshots:
We reach the end of the trip. Where has the last 10 days gone? I go for a final night-time walk before our 23:40 departure back to LHR and grab a few more shots.
I sit on the plane, looking fondly out of the window as the night lights disappear into the distance and think "I'd better schedule some time in next week to sort through the 35gb of shots I've taken this week!"
Thank you for looking

I'm studying towards an unrelated subject which can at times get quite intense, so it's nice to get some time away and relax with the camera.

There will indeed be more on the way. Unfortunately most of them don't include as many animals - for a city, it's got a huge amount of wildlife (and then there's the Zoo...)
