Awesome trip report. I didn't know that Cebu Pacific has a direct flight flight from Hong Kong to Kalibo/Boracay. Too bad it was cancelled. Do you know why Cebu Pacific cancelled the direct flight? Or is it dependent on passenger load?

Excellent trip report. Just added El Nido to my list of must-visit places for the next trip. Puerto Galera is already on that list - didn't quite make it there during my first trip.

I might have to disagree with you a bit regarding Boracay - it is still a beautiful place as long as you stay far enough away from Dmall. Might also be a question of seasons - I was there in late March and the weather was absolutely perfect.

BTW, would Puerto Galera or El Nido be good place to actually learn to dive ? Or would it be safer to know what I am doing before trying to dive there?

Hey there,
I agree with you and I will give Boracay another chance in the right season. That typhoon made me bitter about it
For diving, I would head to Puerto Galera. People there just dive (that's the only reason why the place exists), so they will set your mood right. Many good operators, but I feel like suggesting Blue Ribbon Divers: decent resort, decent food, right prices, good instructors, good equipment. Regardless, ou will have a blast!

I believe Philippine Airlines will have a twice weekly flight between HKG-KLO starting in September.

I do not know the reason why... I assume load factors though... It seemed a pretty good bet, too bad...
