Moldova, Romania, and TransDniester

Since I'm in between trips, I'm trying to catch up with trip reports from some of my previous trips. If you wanted to catch up my previous reports, they're here:

London to Iran and Afghanistan in a mix of C, F, and LCCs

Above the Arctic Circle with UA/CO/LH and SK in whY, C, and F

Around the World in 40 Days for 40 Years

8 Places People Who Are Right in the Head Do Not Spend New Years

12 Countries, 10 Airlines, 4 Islands, 27,080 miles, 11 Days

This trip would take me to two "official" countries, Moldova and Romania, as well as one unofficial one, TransDniester. In a brief war, TransDniester seceded from Moldova, and has been more or less independent for more than 10 years now!

Wait, breakaway region with its own military, currency, parliament, border control, etc? .Sounds like a de-facto country to me...and of course I had to visit. .Naturally, you get there from Moldova...but since you can't fly in, you get to take a sketchy mashrutka minibus. .I'm up for adventure! .Flights booked, it was time to head off!

A preview of a downpour in Tiraspol, TransDniester:
