When I read the title of your trip report, all I could think of was "ouch". Going from F to Y is hard...especially from Singapore F.

Enjoyed your well-written trip report and the photos.

Thanks. It's a rough drop, but thankfully the Y segment was very short.

How does the privacy compare to CX F?

haven't flown CX F, but I doubt the privacy of the SkySuite compares favorably.

Nope, CX F doesnt have as much personal space as Skysuite, as its like most other airlines' F, dont have the doors and shades.

I can't wait until SQ retires their 747 fleet, their F class is getting a little old. What's wierd is that even the new 777-300er F is beginning to show its age on some of the routes.

I for one am not looking forward to that to happen.. I love F seat on those Aircrafts more than the newer version on the 77W's.

But hopefully I'll be able to fly it one last time next year before their decommissioning..

BTW, this is great advice OP:

By registering a Singapore frequent flier account (they rarely if ever release First class seats to partners), transferring AMEX points to SQ KrisFlyer miles and holding out for a one-way saver award, this trip is costing me 47,500 miles (less than a pair of sunglasses). Had I paid cash for the same flight it would have cost $6,280.30 (as of today). Seek out the best value for your points.
Stupid SQ is too stingy to the rest of Star.

While the seats are showing wear and tear and the IFE screen isn't great, I found it to be extremely comfortable for sleeping. If I could change one thing, it would be to have an ottoman for my feet while in the seating/recline position.

Very nice trip report, I'm very envious.

How was your fellow passenger's champagne comment pretentious?

It was the tone and manner in which she said it. I suppose you had to be there. She sounded very self-congratulatory for spending a lot of money. I find people publicly bragging about large expenditures and patting themselves on the back for it to be gauche.
