If you were in f/c then you should have gotten more than one drink service. If you were iin Y then one drink service with the beverage cart is pretty much the norm on a 2 hour flight. The company dictates the service procedures on every flight, usually dependant on flight length/time of day/time available for service and they will cater the airplane accordingly. If the flight is scheduled for one full beverage service there's a good chance it doesn't have the proper catering on board to accomplish another service. If you are still thirsty after the first pass, feel free to either push your call bell or walk back to the galley and ask for another beverage and I'm sure the f/a's would accommodate your request.

Are we flying in a RJ or a larger aircraft? The smaller the plane the more service while the larger the less I ask "since it is unlikely that the beverage cart may return before landing might I have _____?"

Just to clarify a few questions, the flight I was mentioning was coach on an A-319. I like the notion that in First the drink should be refilled upon empty, I was more interested on when I should become annoyed I only had one drink in the back.

CMK10,
You should never become annoyed because you haven't had enough to drink! On those shorter flights such as the one you mentioned, they are only scheduled for one beverage service. If you want more next time you can combine a trip to the lav or a walk through the cabin to stretch your legs with a trip to the back galley where I'm sure they'll be happy to fill your request. People do it all the time and it's no problem at all!

It is a good excuse to get a nice stretch for the legs... even on the shorter flights (assuming there's not a mob @ the back of the A/C already ) - and I've taken advantage of this treck at least once a flight typically...

The cart may only come by once, but you can always ask for refills or a few at a time.
