Air vents on airplane flights [merged threads]

I have flown cross country on AA's 767-200 numerous times and I find it hard to believe that any airline would opt-out of putting individual air vents above each seat. I know these planes are older than most, but it makes travelling in coach uncomfortable, especially when the temp of the cabin is warm.

Most larger, wide-body aircraft, don't have individual air vents

You can't reach them without standing up anyway, so what's the point

I agree, I hate planes with no air vents. It always get's too hot on the plane for me. Love the 777 on AA with the vents. I turn them on as soon as I get on the plane and leave mine on (at least) the entire flight. I don't mind having to stand up to reach them if I am in the center. I was on a 763 once on AA that did have air vents all the other 762 and 763 I have been on do not have them. The one thing I like about the 757 and MD80 on AA are the vents. Love the vent on the RJ jets too.

Most (if not all) foreign carriers do not have individual air vents. It's probably the ONLY thing I prefer about US carriers. I also get too hot on planes. I didn't know AA's about 767-200's though. UA's 767-300's have then, but I don't remember if ther -200's did...

DL's 763 ex-Gulf Air birds don't have air vents. BA's 744s don't have them, but all A319/2x have them.

Yeah, just what I want. The "air" that the guy 10-rows up just exhaled/belched/farted out, blowing into my face... Yummy.

Any air vent blowing on me gets closed immediately after I sit down. If I'm hot, I'll take off my jacket.

Besides, the only planes I ever get on that are too warm are the one left by AA in DFW with the window shades open and the engines off. Get on one of those babies, and that little air vent won't help you one bit!

It is so much better to have the person next to you doing the same thing and being unable to blow the air away immediately.

Airlines with personal air vents

Is there a listing/wiki somewhere of airlines with personal/adjustable air vents? One of my pet hates when travelling is flying on a carrier that doesn't have them.

Ah, that would be lovely. I have had some of my angriest moments (I'm a generally calm person) when FAs have pumped up the heat on planes with no personal air vents.

Delta has them on the vast majority of their fleet.

The only planes that do not have them are:

The 757-200s doing that Hawaii routes (ex-ATA/Singapore, only 22F seats) as well as a 757 from Shanghai Airlines.

The 767-300s from Gulf Air/Asiana - these planes only have 30 seats in BusinessElite (as opposed to 36 in a standard configuration).

Oh, was that you ten rows behind me the other day? Sorry about that.

The BEH air vents are the best.

The nozzle is large and at armrest level. It feels like an industrial strength hand dryer but on your face.

One of my personal biggest gripes about flying on (ordinarily wonderful) SQ is their unusually warm cabin temperature and typical lack of air vents, punctuated by the thick duvets they supply in C/F. I've woken up in a sweat more than once!

I must have run into one of these birds on my New Year's BCN-ATL flight. The good news is that the cabin temp was pleasantly cool, possibly too cool for those who are "always cold" on planes.

Personally I prefer a cool cabin, but a warm cabin with air vents is certainly a nice compromise!
