On the bus from Ukraine to Poland in 2007 (everyone else was smuggling vodka/cigarettes)
seeing a guy strap himself with bags of coke in the bathroom in China before walking across to Macau.
Being the only foreigner crossing on a bus from Greece to Albania
going to Africa overland next summer, surely some exciting border crossings en route

Other than many times from Canada to the USA by car, bus, train, bicycle, and on foot, the most exciting border crossing I have done is from Costa Rica to Panama on the caribbean coast. This rickety old bridge seperates the two countries...
I was wondering how many people do many overland crossings between countries? On many of my trips I usually open jaw into one country and out of another. This can include rail, road, ferry or by foot connections.
44. hong kong-macau & v.v. (ferry)
I don't believe going from one place to another by ferry can be a "valid" classification of "land border" crossing unless the ferry ride is on a narrow water passage way such as a river or the two places actually share a river or physical land with each other in a way. The 1hr+ ferry ride from HK to Macau is definately nowhere close to be classfied as a "land border" crossing. HK & Macau does not share any land nor river borders and the 40-mile distance between the two is not a narrow water passege way nor river.

Where do you draw the line?
Would you say that a trip from the UK to France qualifies if you use the tunnel but not if you use a ferry?
Does crossing the Oresund from Copenhagen to Malmo count as crossing a land border now that there is a bridge?
If there are tunnels and bridges linking the two then I would consider it as a valid land crossing even if done by ferry. But there are no bridges nor tunnels connecting HK to Macau so this one is not even close to being a "land crossing".
